Swan Hill

Race 1. (12:55) Kubota Swan Hill Maiden (975m)

#11 – Super Thief @ $1.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Punters have to take short odds for Super Thief, but the Hayes-trained gelding looks close to breaking through.

The three-year-old gelding finished second on debut at Cranbourne behind See You in Spring, which is a top form guide for maiden racing.

$1.80 is as short as we would take, but he should run well.

Race 3. (14:00) Jarrod Arentz Electrical Maiden (1200m)

#1 – Anthemic @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Anthemic draws wide for this contest, but it’s not an overly strong field and he could take advantage.

The Busuttin/Young-trained four-year-old owns two second placings from eight starts, including one at this distance.

The betting move is encouraging, so include.

Race 5. (15:00) Ultima Hotel Maiden (1600m)

#3 – Catskill Mountain @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Catskill Mountain didn’t have supporters in the betting on debut, but he’s much shorter in the market now.

The four-year-old finished fourth at Bendigo, which was a solid debut effort. He should be stronger for the run, and the inside draw is ideal.

$5 is worth taking in an even betting field.

Race 7. (16:00) Pooles Accountants BM64 (975m)

#10 – Easy Single @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Looking for back-to-back wins is Easy Single, who hit a home run at Cranbourne last time out.

The four-year-old has yet to finish worse than second from three starts, so he’s consistent and good enough to win again.

Barrirer four should see him settle close to the speed, which is vital over such a short distance.

Tuncurry

Race 2. (13:20) Forster Bowling Club C1 Plate (2100m)

#2 – Oh No Bro @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet

It took Oh No Bro eight starts to win his maiden, but he looks good enough to kick on with it now.

The four-year-old son of Casino Prince stepped up in distance to 2220m and scored by a half-length. He paid $26, so he’s much shorter this time in.

It’s not a strong field, and he shouldn’t be overlooked again.

Race 3. (13:55) Club Forster Maiden (1200m)

#5 – Dark Herring @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Dark Herring ran second on debut at Gosford and there is little wrong with that form going forward.

The four-year-old mare was only a length behind Centro Storico, which is good form for this level of racing.

Barrier 10 is the only concern over this distance, but the $3.20 is likely to shorten, so take the value available.

Race 5. (15:10) Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club C1 (1400m)

#1 – Poseiden Ruler @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Poseiden Ruler has been in solid form this preparation, including a win at Scone two starts back.

He scored by two lengths to exit maiden grades and followed it up with a third placing at Narromine behind Occasional. It’s a strong form guide for this race, and he has finished in the money in seven of his eight starts.

Punters get value odds and they’re worth taking.

Race 7. (16:25) Tuncurry XXXX Gold Cup (2100m)

#7 – Birdonawinningpost @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The five-year-old mare is a three-time winner from 11 starts, who handles all track conditions and is good enough to win this contest.

She had been facing tough oppositon in Sydney, including running seventh behind Dream Runner at Randwick. That form is strong and she can get back to her best form.

We expect the $4.60 to shorten considerably on race day.
