Friday horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:55) Bet365 Top Tote Maiden (1221m)
#10 – River Twain @ $2.25 – Bet Now
River Twain is coming off an improved effort for second at Kilmore, which is good form for this race.
The Price/Kent-trained gelding had been running in strong fields before dropping in class last start. This is another drop in class, and he gets Damien Oliver in the saddle.
He should be right in the thick of the action.
Race 3. (14:00) DMB Contracting Maiden (1726m)
#9 – Deepstrike @ $3.70 – Bet Now
The son of Tavistock ran second on debut at Geelong and he has every chance of going one better.
He was only a half-head behind the winner and although he ran at odds of $31 on debut, he is much shorter here.
Deepstrike comes from a good stable and they are expecting a top effort.
Race 4. (14:30) All Time Plumbing Maiden (1121m)
#7– Masseuse @ $2.60 – Bet Now
Masseuse owns four placings from four starts and she will get her win sooner rather than later.
The Maher/Eustace-trained three-year-old took on some quality fields last season and she was unlucky not to win.
$2.60 is a fair price from bookmakers and punters should take those odds.
Race 6. (15:30) Viatek BM64 (1121m)
#10 – Tan Tat Harmony @ $4.40 – Bet Now
Tan Tat Harmony closed her last campaign with a win at Pakenham, and she could fire up early this time around.
The daughter of Brazen Beau was too good for them in March, and despite not racing for six months, the betting support is there.
It’s not an overly deep field and she could take advantage.
Race 1. (13:35) Macka’s Sand & Soil C1 (1850m)
#6 – Reaching @ $1.55 – Bet Now
Reaching is coming off a win at Newcastle, and although punters have to take short odds, she should get the job done.
The Kim Waugh-trained four-year-old gets the services of James McDonald, and now that she has broken through, she could kick on with it.
Race 2. (14:10) GTS Lawnpride Australia Maiden (1400m)
#2 – Yangtze Rapids @ $1.85 – Bet Now
Chris Waller lines up the talented son of Frankel, which is coming off an impressive second placing at Warwick Farm.
The three-year-old colt won’t take long to break maiden status and after running in the city, this is easily his best chance.
We thought his odds would be shorter, so take the value on offer.
Race 4. (15:25) Minder Cloud Services Hurricane (900m)
#6 – Burning Crown @ $3 – Bet Now
They will go quickly over 900m, and Burning Crown could be the quickest of them all. The Sue Grills-trained sprinter owns six wins from 18 starts, and he is unbeaten at Newcastle.
The son of Helmet has found form this campaign with two wins from his last four starts, so he is the form runner of this field.
Take the $3 as that quote could shorten.
Race 5. (16:05) Australian Bloodstock Cameron Handicap (1500m)
#6 – Rock @ $3.60 – Bet Now
Rock hasn’t been able to win at his most recent starts, but he is unbeaten second-up and that bodes well.
The talented five-year-old finished fifth behind Dreamforce last time out, which is better form than most horses in this field.
He has group racing talent and we’re not surprised to see his odds shorten throughout the week.
Race 6. (16:40) Newcastle Cup (2300m)
#1 – Mugatoo @ $2.15 – Bet Now
Mugatoo is the class runner of this field and he has looked brilliant winning both starts this season.
The imported son of Henrythenavigator now owns seven wins from 13 starts, and he wasn’t tested when scoring at Rosehill last start.
He could start as the odds-on favourite in the feature race.
