Geelong horse racing tips & form

Race 1. (15:40) Bet365 Odds Protector Maiden (1409m)

#5 โ€“ Firecat @ $2.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Firecat went close at Pakenham last time out, and she wonโ€™t take long to break maiden grades.

The Freedman-trained three-year-old was only 1.3 lengths behind the winner, and she didnโ€™t get much after travelling wide throughout.

Barrier two should see a more economical run and it could pay dividends.

Race 2. (16:15) Apco Service Stations Maiden (1109m)

#6 โ€“ Lady Mofeed @ $2 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Short odds are on offer for Lady Mofeed, which performed much better when second at Cranbourne last time out.

The Busuttin/Young-trained filly ran 14 lengths behind the winner on debut as the favourite, but she was spelled and went down by a nose on the line.

She will be fitter for the run and weโ€™re not surprised by the short odds on offer.

Race 3. (16:50) The Elephant & Castle Hotel Maiden (2212m)

#8 โ€“ Super Quick Love @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Super Quick Love has been a touch unlucky not to break maiden grade by now, but she gets a good chance.

The five-year-old mare owns five second placings from 15 attempts, and she has shown more than enough ability to beat this field.

Punters get value each-way odds, and she goes on top of selections.

Race 4. (17:25) DMB Contracting Maiden (1509m)

#7 โ€“ Kanzai @ $14 – Bet @ Sportsbet

We are surprised at the double-figure odds available for Kanzai, which finished second at Ballarat last time to the races.

The Nigel Blackiston-trained mare was only a length behind the winner over 1500m, so kicking off her campaign over 1500m is ideal.

Barrier 12 isnโ€™t ideal, but she shouldnโ€™t be a $14 chance in an even contest.

Race 5. (18:00) Jack Rabbit BM64 (1109m)

#4 โ€“ Savannah Cloud @ $1.95 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Strong money has come for Savannah Cloud, which faced a tough open-class field at Caulfield last time out.

The Phillip Stokes-trained colt was only 3.3 lengths behind Crosshaven, and that is much better form than what he faces here.

He broke maiden grades by 5.5 lengths and we expect the $1.95 odds to shorten to around $1.60 come start time.

Race 6. (18:30) McGrath Real Estate C1 Handicap (1209m)

#3 โ€“ Here To Shock @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The three-year-old colt for Brent Stanley scored a quality maiden win at Sandown last start, and heโ€™s capable of going back-to-back.

He won by 1.8 lengths and having experience at Geelong will help after he ran third on this track on debut.

The son of Shocking drops in distance, but he should be right around the mark again.

Race 7. (19:00) Newcomb Sand & Soil BM64 (1710m)

#11 โ€“ Angel Rock @ $6 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Lindsay Park lines up the four-year-old mare that won at Kyneton to kick off her campaign.

She followed up the win with a fifth at Mornington and a third at Geelong. Her run for third behind The Regiment is a good form guide for this contest.

Punters get value each-way odds at the $6, so expect a good run on Wednesday.

Race 8. (19:30) Rex Gorell Geelong BM64 (1509m)

#10 โ€“ Toyz On Fire @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Toyz On Fire was a touch disappointing when seventh at Moonee Valley on debut, but she is a quality filly in the making.

The daughter of Fighting Sun finished fifth at Flemington prior to that, which came behind the highly-talented Cherry Tortoni.

Drawing the inside barrier is ideal and $5 is a great value price to close the card.
