Geelong horse racing tips & form

Race 1. (15:40) Bet365 Protest Promise Maiden (1209m)

#1 – Arfa Crown – Bet Now

Jason Price lines up the three-year-old that exceeded expectations when running second on debut.

The son of Unencumbered ran second at odds of $50 and he showed a good turn-of-foot in the process.

It’s going to hold him in good stead for the future and this isn’t the strongest maiden field we’ve ever seen.

Bookies should be offering nice odds again.

Race 2. (16:15) Ritchie Bros Auctioneers Maiden (1109m)

#7 – Proper Rogue – Bet Now

Proper Rogue has had two starts for two placings and he could go one better fresh up.

The three-year-old by Snitzel ran second on debut at Echuca behind Star Surprise, and that form has stacked up at city level.

He made up stacks of ground at Bairnsdale last start and although the drop in distance isn’t ideal, he could be a class above them.

Race 3. (16:50) Higgins Coatings Maiden (1309m)

#2 – Teebird – Bet Now

Teebird isn’t far off breaking maiden grades and he could breakthrough this Wednesday.

The four-year-old for Team Hawkes ran second at his first two starts before battling home when fourth last time out.

He should have matured nicely from those efforts and jumping from barrier four should see him fighting out the finish.

Punters should be getting each-way odds.

Race 4. (17:25) J.B. Scott Maiden (2122m)

#11 – Mill on Brook – Bet Now

The four-year-old mare is looking to improve on two fourth placings, which is entirely possible against this level of opposition.

A daughter of Raise The Flag, Mill on Brook has been settling a touch too far back in the run and making up solid ground in the straight.

Rising from 2000m to 2122m looks ideal for this run and it’s good to see Dean Yendall retain the ride after he rode her last start.

Punters should be getting each-way odds.

Race 5. (18:00) Rex Gorell Family Group Handicap (1710m)

#6 – Zoulah – Bet Now

Zoulah improved nicely to break maiden status at Sale last start, and she could kick on with it now.

The McEvoy-trained three-year-old scored by 1.5 lengths after hitting the line with real purpose. We’re expecting the form out of that race to stack up nicely and she only needs luck in this race.

Drawing barrier six could make it tough, but the small field should ensure she finds a good spot in running and finishes off the race in style once again.

Race 6. (18:30) The Breeze Retirement BM64 (1509m)

#3 – Predicated – Bet Now

The four-year-old gelding is in fine form this campaign with back-to-back wins coming into this race.

A son of Medaglia D’oro, Predicated scored at Warrnambool two back and doubled down with an easy win at Geelong.

His recent win came by 2.5 lengths when leading throughout and we should see similar tactics adopted for this run.

Race 7. (19:00) Apco Service Stations BM64 (1209m)

#6 – Icon – Bet Now

Icon has had two starts since resuming from a spell and he should be fitter for those efforts.

The four-year-old by Nicconi has finished in the money in seven of his 13 starts and he was hitting the line nicely when fourth at Geelong last start.

He meets an even field for this race and punters should be getting each-way odds.

Race 8. (19:30) Jack Rabbit BM58 (1309m)

#13 – Havalilly – Bet Now

The three-year-old filly was an impressive winner at Hamilton two starts back and that form looks good for this.

She has since run second at Geelong when getting run down close to the line. That came against harder opposition and she’ll find this much easier.

Getting luck from barrier 10 will be important, but she represents good each-way value.
