Geelong racing tips
—
Race 1. (13:30) Ladbrokes Bet Ticker Maiden (2440m)
#6 – Thundering Falcon @ $4.00
Thundering Falcon has been nearing a win after four solid starts, and rising to 2440m should be right up his alley.
The three-year-old son of Fiorente ran fourth at Geelong last start over 2218m, which is a solid effort, and he gets blinkers for the first time.
Take the each-way odds available.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 2. (14:00) Geelong Homes BM58 (2440m)
#3 – Ruada @ $4.80
Ruada isn’t the most consistent type going around but he won well two back at Moe, which is a good form guide.
The four-year-old son of Rubick owns three wins from 14 starts, and he’s better than what he showed at Mornington last start.
We’re happy to include him in picks at the current price.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 3. (14:30) McGrath Estate Agents Maiden (1425m)
#7 – Maycomb @ $2.80
Looking to post a win at her third start is Maycomb, who ran second on debut at Cranbourne before placing last time out at Pakenham.
The Chris Waller-trained filly was beaten at $1.55 odds, but punters get a better price this time around, so she’s worth backing.
We expect money to come for her on race day.
Stake: 4 Units
Race 4. (15:00) Prestige Jayco Geelong Maiden (1525m)
#9 – Fontaine Rouge @ $2.35
Fontaine Rouge is another runner knocking on the door of an overdue win after posting three placings from four starts.
The four-year-old mare ran third at Bendigo two back before finishing three lengths behind Mary Eliza at Mornington last start, which is a fair form guide.
She’s fitter now and she should be right in the thick of the finish.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 5. (15:30) Ritchie Bros Auctioneers Maiden (1225m)
#5 – Nic’s Choice @ $4.60
Looking to go one better than last start is Nic’s Choice, who ran second at Cranbourne as a $51.00 chance.
It was a good form reversal for the three-year-old son of Nicconi, and he’s heading in the right direction this preparation.
Punters get each-way odds and they’re worth taking.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 6. (16:00) Ag Haines Builders BM64 (1125m)
#6 – Brighella @ $4.40
Brighella is a recent gelding who didn’t fire at Mornington, but we’re prepared to give him another chance.
The James Cummings-trained son of Brazen Beau showed potential when running behind the likes of Snack Bar and Husk, so the ability is there.
This is an easier field, so take the generous odds.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 7. (16:30) Mirnee Electrical Solutions BM64 (1425m)
#2 – Tatsu @ $3.40
Looking to score consecutive wins is Tatsu, who won at Werribee by a length last time out.
The four-year-old son of Xtravagant won his only start at Geelong, so having winning experience at the track adds to his appeal.
61kg is a big weight but he’s the class runner.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 8. (17:00) Rex Gorell Volkswagen BM64 (1733m)
#1 – Rezone @ $5.50
Rezone didn’t run well at Randwick last start but this is a different race and he should find it much easier.
That came behind Saltcoats in BM88 company, so dropping two rating bands should be enough to see his best form return.
1.5kg comes off his back and punters get fair odds.
Stake: 2.5 Units
