Gold Coast horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (14:13) The Palms Festive Editions Handicap (1400m)
#3 – The Ritz – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Ritz was impressive when winning on debut at Ballina and a repeat could be on the cards. He won by 2.8 lengths and there is plenty of room for improvement.
The son of Mossman was heavily backed leading into the race, and we’re expecting similar betting movement this time around.
He should be tough to beat against the small field.
Race 2. (14:48) Festive Feast Book Online Maiden (1400m)
#6 – Brannigan – Bet @ Sportsbet
Brannigan is getting close to breaking through after posting consecutive placings either side of a spell.
The Chris Munce-trained gelding finished second at Ipswich last start and although two lengths behind the winner, he has improvement to come.
Drawing barrier 11 doesn’t help, but having a senior rider in the saddle will.
Race 3. (15:27) Summer Carnival On Sale BM65 (1400m)
#1 – Perfect Impression – Bet @ Sportsbet
Consistency is with Perfect Impression, which owns a win and six placings from 10 career starts.
The Chris Anderson-trained mare scored a win at Ipswich in October before running second at Sunshine Coast last start.
Punters could get each-way odds and the 1.5kg claim helps.
Race 4. (16:02) Tab Calcutta On Sale Maiden (1100m)
#2 – Camerlengo – Bet @ Sportsbet
Camerlengo showed ability in two runs last preparation and those came in New South Wales, which is often good form.
The three-year-old colt finished second on debut at Canterbury before running third at Gosford. He has been primed with a solid trial effort and that holds him in good stead.
Race 5. (16:37) Boxing Day Raceday C2 Handicap (1100m)
#9 – Apollo Prince – Bet @ Sportsbet
Apollo Prince has been right around the mark in all four runs, which includes a win and multiple placings.
The Kelly Schweida-trained gelding has been primed with a trial at Eagle Farm and he doesn’t need to be a superstar to win this race.
Punters should get each-way odds from bookmakers.
Race 6. (17:12) Aquis Raceday BM72 (1800m)
#5 – Kiriana – Bet @ Sportsbet
Kiriana is shooting for three consecutive wins after posting victories at Sunshine Coast and Doomben.
The Symons/Laxon-trained seven-year-old scored emphatically by 4.3 lengths last start and dropping back in distance shouldn’t worry her.
She enjoys this distance and with Ron Stewart in the saddle, she should have every chance to perform well again.
Race 7. (17:50) Tab C5 Handicap (1200m)
#5 – Pinnacle Star – Bet @ Sportsbet
Pinnacle Star owns a top record of four wins and six placings from 11 starts, so he has plenty of upside to call upon.
The five-year-old goes well fresh up with two wins from three starts, so he finds form quickly and he is good enough to beat this field.
It could pay to watch the tote with this runner.
Race 8. (18:25) Tab BM65 (1400m)
#6 – The Hand – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Hand scored a win four starts back before rattling off three consecutive second placings.
He is a son of I Am Invincible that only missed by a short margin last start and he is capable of turning that form into winning form.
Drawing barrier seven is ideal and he should get a nice drag into the race.
