Gold Coast Magic Millions Day horse racing tips
Race 1. (13:15) Magic Millions Maiden Plate (1200m)
#16 – Newsreader @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Newsreader has been costly to date, but the Magic Millions Maiden is a good race to score your first win.
The John O’Shea-trained filly has faced tough opposition to date, and her trial win at Randwick to prepare was a tidy effort.
She looks ready to win and claim the big money on offer.
Race 2. (13:50) Magic Millions Quality (1800m)
#5 – Frosty Rocks @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Frosty Rocks has been running for a while this campaign, but the four-year-old gelding keeps delivering competitive efforts.
The Bjorn Baker-trained gelding owns four wins and seven placings from 17 starts, so he is rarely far away from the prize.
His run for second behind Paradee is a good form guide, and he could turn the tables on the favourite.
Race 3. (14:25) Frizelle Sunshine Subzero (2400m)
#2 – Black On Gold @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Chris Waller lines up the seven-year-old that is capable of beating this field. He was only a length behind Spirit Ridge last start, which has subsequently won again.
It is a strong form guide for Queensland racing, and he owns experience on this track with three starts for two placings.
$5 is a fair price from bookmakers, and he should go well.
Race 4. (15:00) It’s Live In Queensland Snippets (1200m)
#3 – Roheryn @ $7.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The five-year-old scored an impressive win at Eagle Farm last start, and he is capable of producing the goods again.
He is a professional seven-time winner from 16 starts, and he’s not getting much respect in the betting this time around.
There will be plenty of speed in this race, and he’ll sit out the back and wait for the right time to strike.
Race 5. (15:35) Tab Magic Millions (1300m)
#9 – Snapdancer @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Snapdancer has shown her class with consecutive wins this preparation, including a win over Tailleur by 2.3 lengths last start.
The Victorian has improved significantly this season, and there has been steady betting support throughout the week. She opened at $3.80, so it’s good to see the money come.
Hugh Bowman rides and carrying 55.5kg is ideal.
Race 8. (17:45) Pacific Fair Magic Millions Cup (1400m)
#1 – Soxagon @ $8.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Soxagon is always worth a bet at each-way odds, and his recent form suggests he’s good enough to win this race.
The Matt Currie-trained five-year-old scored at Doomben two back before repeating the dose at Eagle Farm. He scored by over a length last start, which came against a quality field.
Drawing barrier three is ideal, and the $8.50 is well worth taking.
Race 9. (18:20) Racing QLD Magic Millions (1300m)
#16 – The Fire Trap @ $41 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Fire Trap could end the Magic Millions with a bang for punters. He scored a fresh up win last preparation, and his best form always comes early.
The son of Sizzling didn’t fire following his win, but with two fresh up wins on his record, the $41 is over the odds.
Barrier six helps and 54kg is another positive. A blow-out showing could be on the cards.
