Gold Coast horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:08) Aquis Handicap (1200m)

#1 – Starman – Bet @ Sportsbet

Starman wasn’t far behind a nice field at Randwick last time out and that form bodes well for this level of racing.

The Chris Waller-trained three-year-old was a narrow winner at Rosehill prior to that and he looks like a smart type for the future.

Track conditions would need to be in the good range.

Race 2. (12:43) Magic Millions Country Cup (1200m)

#2 – Sir Rocket @ $2.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Michael Costa lines up the five-year-old gelding who owns five wins and three placings from 11 starts.

The son of Smart Missile is unbeaten in two runs on this track and he was only narrowly beaten at Sunshine Coast last start.

Our only worry is the tricky barrier draw, but he should be right in the mix.

Race 3. (13:18) Aquis Gold Nugget 2YO (1100m)

#3 – Swiss Exile @ $2.45 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Swiss Exile ran third behind Palazzo Spirit on debut before pushing Coolangatta to within 2.7 lengths last start.

That’s Magic Millions form and the son of Pariah shouldn’t take long to break maiden grades. He has been backed early, so there is market confidence.

Barrier five is ideal and we fancy his chances of getting it done.

Race 4. (13:52) Aquis Gold Pearl 2YO (1100m)

#3 – Uncorked @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Uncorked opened at $4.20 and punters immediately took that price. The filly finished second behind Fireburn last start and she’ll be better for the effort.

The daughter of Pierro has shown her best form at the trials, but she should push forward and be tough to run down close to the line.

It could pay to follow the money with the favourite.

Race 5. (14:32) Magic Millions Rising Stars C4 (1300m)

#6 – Fall on a Star @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Fall on a Star has come of age this season after winning at Ipswich by two lengths last time out.

The four-year-old mare is better for two runs back from a spell and getting barrier two sees her land o the speed.

The $4.80 is well worth taking.

Race 6. (15:12) Magic Millions Rising Stars C4 (1300m)

#6 – Head Legislator @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Head Legislator hit the line with authority when running fifth at Wyong. It was a race he could have easily won with some luck.

The four-year-old son of Headwater has won two of his 11 starts, which also includes six second placings.

Punters should expect him to drop back and storm home.

Race 7. (15:52) The Tab Wave (1800m)

#12 – See Marie @ $17 – Bet @ Sportsbet

See Marie makes a fairly steep rise in class but the four-year-old mare flashed home for second last start.

The daughter of Sebring is a five-time winner from 15 starts, so she’s always around the mark and punters get lovely odds.

There will be plenty of pace up front and she could hit the line with power.

Race 8. (16:32) We are Gold Coast Quality (900m)

#6 – The Move @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Move was good enough to score four consecutive wins before finishing fourth behind Zoustyle.

The five-year-old son of Hinchinbrook is a professional six-time winner from 15 starts, so he knows how to get it done.

Carrying 54kg is ideal and he can handle this field.

Race 9. (17:12) Aquis Pierata BM85 (1400m)

#5 – Don’t Stop @ $8 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Don’t Stop is a six-time winner from 20 starts, and although facing a tough field, he has plenty of upside.

The five-year-old son of Mahisara does some of his best racing on a soft track, so the conditions look ideal.

Barrier 14 makes it harder, so expect him to drop back and hit the line strongly.
