Race 1. (12:50) Eco Bunker Maiden (1600m)
#2 – Achondrite @ $2 – Bet Now
Chris Waller lines up three in this race but Achondrite looms as the best winning chance.
The Japanese-bred filly by Lord Kanaloa finished second at Hawkesbury last time out and with the rise to the mile, she should be going close in this.
James McDonald rides and that’s a good sign for punters.
Race 2. (13:25) Syngenta Provaunt Maiden (1200m)
#10 – Badia @ $3.40 – Bet Now
James Cummings is winning at a frequent race around Australia at the moment and Badia could give him more success.
The two-year-old filly finished a nose behind the winner at Warwick Farm last start and she’s clearly getting better with every run.
$3.40 is a good price from bookmakers and although this field has a lot of depth, she looks a standout type.
Race 3. (14:00) Bayer Exteris BM74 (1200m)
#4 – Strome @ $5 – Bet Now
Strome hasn’t quite been her usual self this season but she looked good when winning consecutive races last time in work.
The four-year-old mare hasn’t raced since January but she has won a trial at Warwick Farm and that should hold her in good stead for this.
60kg on the back but she has been backed in from $7 to $5 and that’s a solid move.
Race 4. (14:35) ICL Tri Smart BM66 (1200m)
#6 – Kylease @ $2.40 – Bet Now
Joe Pride lines up the impressive filly, which will find this harder than recent assignments, but she looks pretty smart.
The daughter of Choisir has won her last two starts by a combined margin of 3.3 lengths and she scored a two-length trial win to prepare for this.
Drawing barrier 10 and carrying 59.5kg will make it tough but she has already won in rating 70 grade and that should be respected.
Race 5. (15:10) Turfculture Impala BM70 (1900m)
#10 – Mangione @ $2.80 – Bet Now
The Waller-trained colt doesn’t have great form coming into this but he does have support in the market.
He’s a $2.80 shot after running sixth behind Angel of Truth at Group 2 level last start and that form has been franked with Angel of Truth winning the Australian Derby.
The slight drop back in distance won’t help but respect his chances.
Race 6. (15:45) Turfcare Australia BM84 (1600m)
#5 – White Boots @ $3.60 – Bet Now
Six-time winner White Boots is one of the more consistent geldings going around as he has finishing in the money in 11 of his 12 starts.
Trained by Kim Waugh, the underrated type is coming off a second placing behind Supernova at Rosehill and that form looks hot for this.
We’re surprised by the odds on offer and we would have been prepared to take $2 if bookmakers were offering the short odds.
Race 7. (16:20) Dr Joe Vargas BM84 (1200m)
#1 – Piracy @ $8 – Bet Now
Piracy is a more-than-capable gelding which always improves with racing under his belt.
James Cummings lines up the winner of almost $200,000 and with form behind the likes of Intuition and Renewal this season, he looks good for this.
Carrying a big weight isn’t ideal but bookmakers are offering $8 and punters should take the each-way odds.
He could firm throughout the week and be tough to hold out.
Race 8. (16:55) Floratine Foliars BM70 (1100m)
#11 – Queen Ablaze @ $3.80 – Bet Now
In good form having won two of her last three starts and there has been good betting support in the market.
The Angela Davies-trained mare has finished out of the money in only one of her six starts and although her last start win came only at Muswellbrook, she showed a nice turn-of-foot.
Gets the inside draw and that should see her land close to the pace and kick strongly.
