Gosford horse racing tips
Race 1. (11:45) Central Coast Granite Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Ranch Hand @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Ranch Hand scored an impressive win on debut before taking on some smart Golden Slipper types.
The two-year-old colt finished fifth in the Magic Millions last start and he has been primed with a trial win at Rosehill.
It’s smart form heading into this race and he gets every chance off the inside draw.
Race 2. (12:20) Tooheys BM78 (1200m)
#8 – Blondeau @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Blondeau is tough to beat here and punters get value odds. The three-year-old gelding loves the distance and he gets in with only 54.5kg on his back.
He is a capable son of I Am Invincible that didn’t show much in a recent trial, but he wasn’t asked to do much.
Consider at an each-way price.
Race 3. (12:55) Tab Highway Handicap C3 (1200m)
#5 – Bellastar @ $7 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Drawing wide won’t help the five-year-old mare, but she should go close with any amount of luck in running.
The daughter of Bel Esprit comes off a second placing at Randwick and the form out of that contest stacks up nicely for this race.
Tim Clark rides and the $7 is well worth taking.
Race 4. (13:30) Hoolihan Partners Consult BM72 (1600m)
#8 – Fifteen Aria @ $7.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Chris Waller-trained three-year-old owns two wins from four starts and although a touch inconsistent, she has ability.
She scored a win at Hawkesbury two starts back by a nose before running against a tough field at Canterbury last time out.
She is a well-bred type that shouldn’t be ruled out of contention in this company.
Race 5. (14:05) Ironhorse BM78 (2100m)
#4 – My Swashbuckler @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The six-year-old comes off a win at Gosford and having winning form on this track is ideal.
He scored emphatically by 3.8 lengths and he paid $1.75, so punters are getting value odds this time around.
Rising in grade shouldn’t be a problem and he should get a nice drag into the race.
Race 6. (14:40) Debortoli Wines Takeover Target (1200m)
#2 – Easy Eddie @ $3.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Easy Eddie could take advantage of the small field and punters have been patiently waiting for him to show his best.
The six-year-old is an eight-time winner that loves the distance and he was only 1.7 lengths behind the winner at Randwick.
Expect a positive outing and the late money should come.
Race 7. (15:20) Reward Group Gosford Cup (2100m)
#2 – Spirit Ridge @ $7.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Spirit Ridge didn’t fire last start at Randwick but that came in the Sydney Cup and this is a much easier contest.
The six-year-old is a five-time winner from 16 starts and his effort behind Sir Dragonet at Rosehill is credit to his ability.
$7.50 for a smart type is good shopping and we’re expecting a big effort.
Race 9. (16:40) Brook Group BM78 (1200m)
#1 – April Rain @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
April Rain is a smart mare after winning three of her four starts. The four-year-old daughter of Pierro defeated a quality field at Warwick Farm last start and that was her third consecutive win.
She hasn’t been asked for much in two recent trials and although carrying 60kg won’t make it easy, she has class on her side.
Watch for late betting moves.
