Gosford horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (14:00) Earthlight @ Darley Maiden (1200m)
#1 – Kooled @ $1.95 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Most of the money is coming for Kooled, who has the form on the board. The Team Hawkes-trained three-year-old ran second on debut at Canterbury before finishing ninth in a tough field at Flemington.
There is little wrong with that form for this level of racing, so we’re not surprised by his odds firming from an opening quote of $2.35.
His recent trial win at Rosehill is a good guide, so punters should be confident.
Race 2. (14:35) XXXX BM72 (1600m)
#8 – Solar Apex @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Chris Waller-trained four-year-old didn’t fire in the South Australian Derby when pulling up with a problem, but his form prior was excellent.
He finished second at Canterbury and second at Newcastle, so he’s always around the mark, and his trial runs have been encouraging.
Having James McDonald in the saddle is a good for punters, so the $4 is worth locking in.
Race 3. (15:10) Precise Air BM72 (1900m)
#5 – Unamerican @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Unamerican showed his potential when scoring by a length at Gosford last start. He burst through runners to score an impressive win, which bodes well for this contest.
Three of his four career wins have come over this distance, and Gosford looks like a track that suits his running style.
Barrier five should see him land in a good position and be right around the mark.
Race 4. (15:45) 1st Crop Calyx Foals BM72 (1200m)
#2 – Fifteen Aria @ $4.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Fifteen Aria is unbeaten in two fresh up starts, which bodes well for this contest. She has looked solid in two recent trial placings at Warwick Farm, so she looks ready to go.
She is another runner for Chris Waller that James McDonald rides, so the combination could team up for a good day on Wednesday.
$4.50 is a fair price for a talented type, so put her on top.
Race 5. (16:20) Vinery BM72 (1100m)
#7 – Park Avenue @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Park Avenue was scratched last week but the Freedman-trained gelding looks to have a bright future this spring.
The son of Fastnet Rock won his first two starts at Wyong and Randwick before running third behind Verne in June. There is little wrong with that form, and his trial form stacks up nicely.
He comes off a one-length trial win at Randwick, so we’re prepared to stick with him at generous odds.
Race 6. (16:55) Tab BM72 (1200m)
#8 – Waihaha Falls @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Waihaha Falls scored a win on debut at Randwick before disappointing at Hawkesbury last start, but he’s much better than that.
The John O’Shea-trained son of Sacred Falls hasn’t been asked for much in recent trials behind Park Avenue and Smart Image, so he should be ready to fire fresh up.
He opened at $3.60 and has been backed significantly, which is a good sign.
