Gunnedah Racing Tips for Sunday, May 24th 2026

We have expert betting tips for racing at Gunnedah on Sunday, which includes nine races at the weekend meeting.

Punters get good value odds for the New South Wales meeting, and we have betting tips for every race on the card.

Race 1. (11:46) Pursehouse Rural C1 (2150m)

#1 – Currumbin Alley @ $2.40

Money has come for Currumbin Alley to cap off three consecutive second placings with a win, and he’s our top pick in this race.

The four-year-old son of Vancouver was only a length behind Bird Whistle in a tough race at Scone last week, and being on the quick back-up is ideal.

Take the odds before more money comes for him on race day.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 2. (12:20) Cool Ice Handicap (1000m)

#11 – Sweet Leaf @ $5.00

Looking to make a winning debut is Sweet Leaf, who comes off a trial placing at Muswellbrook, where she wasn’t asked for much.

The two-year-old filly by Headwater is drawn to get all favours in the run from barrier two, and she is being kept safe in betting markets.

55kg on her back adds to her appeal.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (12:55) Gunnedah Bulk Freighters Maiden (1250m)

#5 – All Too Sheik @ $8.00

All Too Sheik hasn’t been too far away from the prize this preparation after back-to-back placings, and he could cap it off with a win.

The three-year-old son of All Too Hard placed at Armidale and Quirindi, and there isn’t too much depth in this field.

He could take advantage and figure in the money.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 4. (13:30) C L Rural Maiden (1400m)

#6 – What a Gent @ $5.00

Tracey Bartley lines up What a Gent, who improved to run second at Illawarra last start, which is a tidy form guide.

The four-year-old son of D’argento has yet to win from 14 starts, but he has been close with four placings, and getting Aaron Bullock riding helps.

He’s fit, and he has faced harder maiden fields.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (14:05) Streater Family Butchery C1 (1400m)

#1 – Portofino @ $2.35

Portofino was too good for a maiden field last time out when winning by 3.8 lengths, and it’s the best form guide for this C1 event.

The three-year-old son of I Am Invincible has struggled in two runs over 1400m, but with the recent win under his belt, he will be much stronger.

It’s another premium ride for Bullock, so include him in horse racing picks.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 6. (14:40) Haires Bus Service BM58 (1250m)

#4 – Arapawa @ $2.90

Boasting two wins and three placings from nine starts is Arapawa, who looked good when winning at Muswellbrook earlier this preparation.

The three-year-old son of Astern wasn’t far away when running fifth at Scone last start, which should be a good form guide.

Getting 4kg off his back could be enough to get back to winning form.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 7. (15:20) Ultra Fleet BM58 (1250m)

#1 – Dub @ $4.60

Dub ended last campaign with back-to-back wins, and it won’t take him long to post a win this time in.

The four-year-old son of Dubois hit the line well enough for fifth fresh up, finishing only 1.4 lengths behind the winner in C2 class.

He gets weight off his back, which is a big help.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (15:55) Mannion Drilling Gunnedah Cup (1600m)

#1 – Tavros @ $1.85

Tavros was an impressive winner at Scone during the two-day carnival last week, and we wouldn’t be surprised of a repeat effort.

The five-year-old gelding by Bull Point has yet to finish worse than second at Gunnedah and having track experience is a bonus.

He has a big weight, but class takes him close.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 9. (16:35) Courthouse Hotel Lightning Handicap (1000m)

#9 – Tough Guy @ $4.60

Tough Guy is already a two-time winner this preparation, including last time out at Moree, and he has been primed with a trial placing at Muswellbrook.

The four-year-old son of Street Boss gets in beautifully on the weights at 55kg, which should be enough to take him close.

Take the each-way odds before they shorten.

Stake: 1.5 Units
