Gunnedah racing tips

Race 1. (12:30) Ultra Lubricants Handicap (1000m)

#1 –Gemologist

Gemologist won well on debut at Muswellbrook, and although it came against a field of only four runners, it was a nice win.

It wasn’t the easiest of fields, and the two-year-old son of Graff has more wins in store this season, especially off the inside draw.

Look for a betting push once markets open.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 2. (13:05) Courthouse Hotel Maiden (1250m)

Miss You So was all around the mark during his first preparation, and that form should check out well for this race.

The Rodney Northam-trained gelding ran third at Muswellbrook two back before finishing fifth at Dubbo last time out.

He comes back from a spell, and he could score a good win.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 3. (13:40) H&M Refrigeration BM58 (2150m)

She’s Got Teeth hasn’t been the most consistent runner recently, but she has enough ability to put this field away.

The Kris Lees-trained mare owns two wins and seven placings from 19 starts, so her overall record is solid, and she has good upside.

Punters should get each-way odds on race day.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 4. (14:15) Donoghue Valuations Maiden (1400m)

We’re going with another Lees-trained runner with Not My Problem, who ended last preparation with three consecutive placings.

The three-year-old daughter of Tosen Stardom ran third at Port Macquarie last start, and she comes off a recent trial placing at Beaumont.

Barrier two is ideal, so she’s worth including in picks.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (14:51) Cool Blue Ice C1 (1400m)

#5 – Oakfield Mercury

Looking to remain unbeaten is Oakfield Mercury, who won at Gunnedah by just under a length on debut.

The Lees-trained colt paid $3.70 when winning, and we expect punters to get similar odds this time around in a harder field.

Aaron Bullock rides, which adds to our confidence.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 6. (15:30) Happy Birthday Autosmart Dom Lightning (1000m)

#4 – Outishka

Outishka is better for two runs back from a spell, and getting back to Gunnedah should help her chances of winning.

She won her only start at the track, and with six wins and seven placings from 19 starts, her record is better than her form suggests.

2kg comes off and she could go under the radar.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 7. (16:09) Ultra Fleet Gunnedah Cup (1600m)

Osman needs to get back to his best form to win this race, but we’re sticking with the six-year-old gelding.

He won at Mudgee earlier this prep before taking on harder opposition at Eagle Farm and Randwick last time out.

He’s an 11-time winner, so he’s worth including in picks.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (16:42) Pursehouse Rural BM58 (1250m)

Boasting consistent form is Hibiki Harmony, who owns two wins and three placings from nine career starts.

The three-year-old filly by Showtime ran second at Armidale last time out, and she should return from a spell with a good showing.

Look for each-way odds from bookmakers.

Stake: 1 Unit
