Happy Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (20:45) Walnut C5 Handicap (1650m)
#1 – Galaxy Racer – Bet Now
Galaxy Racer is coming off three consecutive placings and he’s good enough to breakthrough for his maiden win.
The Caspar Fownes-trained gelding went close to winning when running second three back. He backed that up with two further placings and this race is there for the taking.
Joao Moreira rides and he’s coming off a big meeting.
Race 2. (21:15) Larch C4 Handicap (1200m)
#8 – Yee Cheong Pegasus – Bet Now
The five-year-old has been in fine form this season and another quality effort is on the cards.
He scored a two-length win at Sha Tin in February and he backed it up with a handy second placing last start.
Chad Schofield is riding well at the moment and he could make the difference.
Race 3. (21:45) Spruce C4 Handicap (1650m)
#3 – Tung Wah Glory – Bet Now
Tung Wah Glory showed little at his first three starts but quickly improved to score last start. That win came at Sha Tin and the form should stack up nicely.
Despite not performing well in his three Happy Valley starts, he has matured nicely now and he could go back-to-back.
It’s good to see Zac Purton retain the ride.
Race 4. (22:15) Larch C4 Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Happy Good Guys – Bet Now
The four-year-old gelding owns two wins from 12 starts and both wins have come this year.
He is coming off a 1.3-length win at Happy Valley and that came from an inside draw. He gets an inside draw again this time around, so expect another good run.
Form is with Happy Good Guys and we’re sticking with him.
Race 5. (22:45) Larch C4 Handicap (1200m)
#6 – California Rad – Bet Now
Tony Cruz lines up the three-year-old gelding that should be winning this season. He showed good form earlier this year when placing in three consecutive races.
He didn’t fire at Happy Valley last start but he has been given a freshen up and drawing barrier three looks ideal.
Karis Teetan rides and he should pay each-way odds with bookies.
Race 6. (23:15) Cypress C3 Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Californiadeepshot – Bet Now
Another runner from the Cruz stable, Californiadeepshot has the ability to continue his rise through the grades.
The three-year-old colt owns three wins from five starts and he hasn’t been far away from the prize recently.
Drawing barrier nine could make it awkward but having Joao Moreira in the saddle could offset the bad barrier.
Race 7. (23:45) Fountain Palm C3 Handicap (1650m)
#7 – Heavenly Thought – Bet Now
Frankie Lor lines up the consistent gelding that hasn’t run a bad race recently. The son of So You Think has scored a win and three second placings from his last four starts.
It’s good form for this race and drawing barrier two with Moreira riding adds to his appeal. He should be able to find a good spot in running and launch late.
Race 8. (00:15) Cypress C3 Handicap (1200m)
#10 – Shamport – Bet Now
Shamport is shooting for three consecutive victories after posting wins at Happy Valley. The five-year-old paid a good price when scoring last start, so stick with him.
He drops down in weight to 53kg and punters are likely to get good odds again. He should be able to find a good spot in running and let down well in the straight.
Expect another tidy performance from Shamport.
Race 9. (00:50) Cedar C2 Handicap (1800m)
#9 – Enrichment – Bet Now
Enrichment is looking to go one better after back-to-back second placings. The Size-trained runner has three wins and seven placings from 28 starts and he could add another.
His recent form has come at Sha Tin against strong fields, so dropping back to Happy Valley should help.
Joao Moreira takes the ride and that will drive his odds down.
