Happy Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (20:45) Tulip C5 Handicap (1200m)
#6 – Kwai Chung Elite – Bet Now
The four-year-old gelding has yet to win from 14 starts but he gets his chance here and it’s not a very strong field.
He finished third when fresh up at Sha Tin last start and it’s good to see Zac Purton take the ride. His experience and talent could be enough to get him over the line.
Race 2. (21:15) Jonquil C4 Handicap (1200m)
#11 – Oversubscribed – Bet Now
David Hall lines up the four-year-old gelding that is getting close to a win. He finished third at Happy Valley last time out and the form out of that race stacks up nicely.
The son of Reward for Effort is rarely too far away from the prize and there has been plenty of money come his way.
Matthew Poon takes 1kg off his back and running at 53kg helps.
Race 3. (21:45) Heather C3 Handicap (2200m)
#6 – London Hall – Bet Now
London Hall is shooting for three consecutive wins and he’s every chance of doing so. The five-year-old gelding scored by a length two back and he followed it up with a tidy victory last start.
It was his fourth win from only 17 starts and jumping from the inside draw gives him every chance of winning again.
He’s a quality midweek type that should run at each-way odds.
Race 4. (22:15) Marigold C4 Handicap (1650m)
#5 – Charity Grand – Bet Now
Charlie Shum lines up the five-year-old gelding that hasn’t done much wrong in nine career starts. The son of Exceed and Excel hasn’t won for over a year but he’s knocking on the door.
He has finished within 1.6 lengths of the winner at his last two starts and the early money has been placed once again.
If he gets luck from barrier 12, he should go close.
Race 5. (22:45) Iris C4 Handicap (1000m)
#1 – Mehboob – Bet Now
Punters haven’t had much luck with Mehboob this season, but his consistency makes him an obvious winning choice again.
The four-year-old has placed at his last five starts since winning in November. He wasn’t finished worse than second in all eight starts this season, which is a great record.
Punters should load up again and stick with him.
Race 6. (23:15) Marigold C4 Handicap (1650m)
#2 – Tangmere – Bet Now
Tangmere is a son of Frankel that owns two wins and three placings. He’s a well-bred runner that scored a win at Happy Valley last start and he could kick on with it.
Caspar Fownes lines up the five-year-old that could continue his winning form and punters should get each-way odds.
Seeing Zac Purton in the saddle adds to our confidence.
Race 7. (23:45) Jonquil C4 Handicap (1200m)
#4 – Lucky Quality – Bet Now
Lucky Quality has the talent to break through and his most recent effort was good. The son of Medaglia D’oro ran only 1.8 lengths behind the winner and he was hitting the line nicely.
His best performances have come at Happy Valley and with Purton riding off the inside draw, he should produce another quality effort.
Watch for any late betting moves.
Race 8. (00:15) Crocus C3 Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Dancing Fighter – Bet Now
Dancing Fighter is a three-time winner from seven starts, which also includes three second placings.
The Fownes-trained runner didn’t fire on this track fresh up, but we’re giving him another chance. His form prior was very impressive and that bodes well for this run.
Drawing barrier two is ideal and it’s another good ride for Purton.
Race 9. (00:50) Cornflower C3 Handicap (1000m)
#7 – Classic Unicorn – Bet Now
Classic Unicorn hasn’t fired at his last two starts but his first two wins were too good to overlook.
He scored by 2.8 lengths on debut before winning by 1.3 lengths following that. We’re not sure why his form has tapered off since but we’re sticking with him.
Watch for any positive betting moves.
