Happy Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (21:15) Yue Wan C4 Handicap (1800m)
#9 – Everyone’s Elite – Bet Now
Manfred Man lines up the five-year-old gelding that has been consistent throughout his career and he deserves a winning turn.
The son of Dalakhani has finished second in five of his 11 starts, so he has the class and just needs to improve a touch.
Drawing barrier three is ideal and having Joao Moreira in the saddle helps.
Race 2. (21:45) Yiu Tung C4 Handicap (1650m)
#1 – Happy Warrior – Bet Now
Happy Warrior capped off some fairly average form with a much-improved second placing at Happy Valley last start.
The John Moore-trained runner has finished in the money in nine of his 27 starts, which is a solid record.
Neil Callan takes the ride and he should be right around the mark again.
Race 3. (22:15) Wan Tsui C4 Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Master Albert – Bet Now
Master Albert is shooting for three wins in a row and he’s every chance of making it happen.
The So-trained six-year-old scored by a length at Happy Valley in January and backed it up with another win last time out.
He’s a son of Magic Albert that has experience and every chance of winning.
Race 4. (22:45) Wan Tsui C4 Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Gunnar – Bet Now
Gunnar is a consistent type that needs to breakthrough soon for loyal punters. The Caspar Fownes-trained gelding owns one win from 14 starts, but he has finished second on four occasions.
He’s still learning his trade and he meets an even C4 field here, so he could take advantage of that.
Alfred Chan takes 3kg off his back and if he gets luck from barrier 11, he should be right in the thick of the finish.
Race 5. (23:15) Hong Tung C3 Handicap (1200m)
#10 – Diamond Brilliant – Bet Now
Knocking on the door of a win is Diamond Brilliant, which has finished in the money in seven of his 12 starts.
He has run second at his last two starts and moving to Happy Valley has helped his record. Drawing barrier five is ideal and carrying 54kg should see him right in the mix.
Joao Moreira rides and that will bring down his odds.
Race 6. (23:45) Hing Wah C3 Handicap (1000m)
#7 – Very Sweet Orange – Bet Now
Very Sweet Orange has been in very sweet form this season. The five-year-old has won three consecutive races and he’s a chance to win again.
All three wins have come at Happy Valley and he held off a talented field when scoring by a half-length last start.
He should get every chance from the draw and he gets 3kg coming off his back.
Race 7. (00:15) Oi Tung C3 Handicap (1650m)
#3 – Smoothies – Bet Now
Smoothies could go down nicely on Wednesday night and he’s looking to go back-to-back. The four-year-old is coming off a narrow win at Sha Tin and that form stacks up nicely.
The Charlie Shum-trained runner has had three starts in Hong Kong since arriving from Brisbane, and he’s progressively getting better.
His wins in Australia came over 1700m and 1666m, so rising to this distance is ideal.
Race 8. (00:50) Hing Man C2 Handicap (1000m)
#2 – Stronger – Bet Now
John Moore lines up the three-year-old colt that looked good in Australia before making his mark in Hong Kong.
He was able to beat a talented field at Group 3 level at Gold Coast, and he has since won a race at Happy Valley.
It’s good form coming into this race and we’re expecting him to run well.
