Happy Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (21:45) Moreton C5 Handicap (1650m)
#4 – Joy Master – Bet @ Sportsbet
Joy Master hasn’t done much recently but the addition of Joao Moreira in the saddle should help his chances.
The six-year-old scored a win in September, but comes off a seven-length last at Sha Tin. He has yet to fire in seven starts at Happy Valley, but there are no superstars in this field.
Barrier four is ideal so expect an improved run.
Race 2. (22:15) Price C4 Handicap (1800m)
#1 – Methane – Bet @ Sportsbet
Methane has been around the mark throughout his career, which includes a win and six minor placings.
The five-year-old son of Pierro comes off a narrow second placing at Happy Valley and that’s the best form guide for this race.
Jerry Chau takes 3kg off his back and every little bit helps.
Race 3. (22:45) Clementi C2 Handicap (1000m)
#2 – Grateful Heart – Bet @ Sportsbet
Charlie Shum lines up the four-year-old gelding that owns six wins and three placings from just 14 attempts.
Four of those wins have come at Happy Valley and with Zac Purton in the saddle, he’s every chance of adding to his record on Thursday.
Barrier four is ideal and punters should expect short odds.
Race 4. (23:15) Cooper C3 Handicap (1000m)
#4 – Heart Conquered – Bet @ Sportsbet
The five-year-old is fresh up having not raced since October, but he owns two fresh-up wins and that’s good form.
He comes off a third placing at Happy Valley and although his winning form came earlier in his career, he is due a win.
Matthew Poon takes 1kg off his back and punters get double-figure odds to enjoy.
Race 5. (23:45) Moorsom C4 Handicap (1200m)
#12 – Jiangxi Stamina – Bet @ Sportsbet
The son of Moshe owns two placings from eight starts and he’s getting close to posting a win.
He is a five-year-old that kicked off his campaign with consecutive placings at Sha Tin before running fourth last start.
His only run at Happy Valley was a dour effort as a $501 chance, but his form has improved significantly this preparation, so put him on top.
Race 6. (00:15) Moorsom C4 Handicap (1200m)
#4 – Peak To Peak – Bet @ Sportsbet
Peak To Peak is nearing a win after two placings from his last three starts. The three-year-old was only a short margin behind the winner at Happy Valley last start, which bodes well.
Frankie Lor lines up the son of More Than Ready and with Joao Moreira in the saddle, a big effort is expected.
Punters should expect short odds on race night.
Race 7. (00:45) Perkins C4 Handicap (1650m)
#1 – Glorious Lover – Bet @ Sportsbet
The five-year-old owns only one win from 21 starts but he has been close on numerous occasions.
He has placed in five of his six starts at Happy Valley and he enters this race with four consecutive placings under his belt.
It’s another good ride for Zac Purton and he should prove tough to beat.
Race 8. (01:15) Creasy C3 Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Kinda Cool – Bet @ Sportsbet
Frankie Lor and Zac Purton team up again with Kinda Cool, which has made a positive start to his career.
The four-year-old son of Per Incanto owns three wins and three placings from 10 starts, with all three wins coming at Happy Valley.
Barrier three is ideal and punters should expect another top effort.
Race 9. (01:50) Henderson C3 Handicap (1650m)
#7 – The Hulk – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Hulk could smash through this field and score an overdue win. He comes off a tidy finish for fourth at Happy Valley, which was his first result on the track.
Carrying 54kg for this run is ideal and if he gets luck from barrier 12, we’re expecting him to figure in the finish.
Punters should get each-way odds on race day.
