Happy Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (21:45) Frigatebird C5 Handicap (1000m)
#9 – Exponents – Bet Now
We’re sticking with Exponents despite the fact he hasn’t been able to win this season.
The Tsui-trained runner finished fourth last start at Sha Tin and we believe racing against easier opposition is going to help him here.
Drawing barrier nine won’t help his chances but Zac Purton rides and he’s the most consistent rider in Hong Kong at present.
Race 2. (22:15) Albatross C4 Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Loriz – Bet Now
Loriz is coming off an impressive win at Happy Valley and we’re expecting that form to translate well for this.
The four-year-old by Smart Missile scored by 1.8 lengths and he was able to turn around some fairly average form prior to that.
That should give him the confidence needed to continue winning this season and there isn’t much depth to this field.
Race 3. (22:45) Centenary Cup (1200m)
#4 – Here Comes Ted – Bet Now
Joao Moreira is coming off an incredible night on Sunday and he partners Here Comes Ted.
The three-year-old gelding ran third on debut at Sha Tin before finishing fourth last start. The form out of that race should hold up nicely this season.
He only requires some luck from the draw to be a winning factor in this.
Race 4. (23:15) Mesia C4 Handicap (1800m)
#11 – Cheerful Star – Bet Now
Cheerful Star could take advantage of an even field here and producing a winning run.
The Lor-trained five-year-old has been right around the mark this season without winning, but that could all change here.
He’s drawn to get a plum run in transit from barrier two and he gets into the race with only 54.5kg. That makes him tough to beat over this distance.
Race 5. (23:45) The Swedish Cup (1200m)
#2 – Confucius Day – Bet Now
It’s only a matter of time before Confucius Day wins a race this season after placing in three of his last four.
The Chang-trained five-year-old ran second on this track last start and that came behind Loriz, so it could be a good form guide.
He owns four placings from nine starts on this track and is worth following, as he will win one soon.
Race 6. (00:15) Nightjar C3 Handicap (1650m)
#12 – Fresh Power – Bet Now
Fresh Power has hit form this season with a 1.8-length win last start after previously placing at Sha Tin fresh up.
The son of Makfi put them away nicely last start and he rises in grade for this, but gets in with only 51.5kg on his back.
That’s going to make him awfully tough to hold out here and he demands respect at the each-way price.
Race 7. (00:45) Robin C4 Handicap (1650m)
#3 – Flame Lily – Bet Now
The Lor-trained gelding has won and placed from three runs this season, so keep him safe here.
His fresh-up win on this track was full of merit and he hasn’t been beaten far in two runs since, which included a third placing.
He might only be a one-race winner but he has upside and it’s good to see Joao Moreira back in the saddle.
Race 8. (01:15) Sand Martin C3 Handicap (1000m)
#8 – Victoriam – Bet Now
Victoriam has won two of his four starts and although beaten last start, he was facing a tough field at Sha Tin.
The Lui-trained son of I Am Invincible scored back-to-back wins prior to that and they both came by over two lengths.
There’s plenty to like about this four-year-old and he has found a winnable race fresh up.
Race 9. (01:50) Sea Eagle C3 Handicap (1200m)
#3 – Le Terroir – Bet Now
Le Terroir is in hot form after winning both starts this preparation and he could easily win again.
The four-year-old has now won four from 15 starts and given that he hasn’t been fully let down this season, he’s got more wins in store.
Looks a good bet here and there should be plenty of money coming his way.
