Happy Valley horse racing tips

Race 1. (21:45) Yuk Sau C5 Handicap (1800m)

#6 – McMunigal – Bet Now

David Hall lines up the five-year-old gelding that was too good for them at Sha Tin two starts back. The 1.3-length win came at odds of $151, which was an incredible result.

He started shorter at $31 when running third last start and punters should get shorter odds for this vastly-improved type.

The son of Epaulette is going well enough to consider again.

Race 2. (22:15) Wang Tak C4 Handicap (1200m)

#1 – Gunnar – Bet Now

Caspar Fownes lines up the consistent Gunnar, which ran another good race for second last start. The four-year-old scored a win on this track last November and hasn’t run a bad race since.

He gets helped by the 2.5kg coming off his back and he’s talented enough to put this field away at each-way odds.

Race 3. (22:45) Yik Yam C4 Handicap (1650m)

#10 – Blooming Spirit – Bet Now

Frankie Lor lines up the four-year-old gelding that finally broke through for the maiden win last start. The son of Spirit of Boom won by a half-length on this track and although Joao Moreira doesn’t ride this time, it shouldn’t dent his confidence.

Drawing barrier six should see him settle close to the pace and carrying 54kg helps. Most of the early money has come for Blooming Spirit.

Race 4. (23:15) Village C4 Handicap (1000m)

#4 – Winner’s Heart – Bet Now

The four-year-old has yet to win from three starts but he has been running some solid races this season. He ran third at Happy Valley two starts back before running fourth and two lengths behind the winner last time out.

It won’t take the son of Ambidexter long to win a race and from barrier two with Chad Schofield riding, it could come this Wednesday.

Race 5. (23:45) Shan Kwong C1 Handicap (1650m)

#11 – Harmony Hero – Bet Now

Coming off a win at Happy Valley, Harmony Hero is a good chance to repeat the effort. He beat a good field by just under a length and that was a nice effort second-up after a long break.

We’re expecting him to rise through the grades nicely this campaign and the four-time winner gets every chance with only 50.5kg on his back.

Punters should get value each-way odds.

Race 6. (00:15) Tsui Man C3 Handicap (2200m)

#6 – God of Dragon – Bet Now

God of Dragon is coming off a narrow win at Sha Tin and that form is going to stack up nicely midweek. The Tony Cruz-trained five-year-old relished the rise in distance and going from 2000m to 2200m is only going to help his chances.

He does rise in weight from 52kg to 54.5kg but it’s all relative and he should be competitive despite the rise in grade.

Race 7. (00:45) Blue Pool C1 Handicap (1200m)

#4 – Amazing Star – Bet Now

Strong money has come for Amazing Star after scoring three consecutive victories. The Ting-trained has relished racing at Happy Valley and his wins have been effortless.

The first win of the season came by 5.5 lengths and that was followed by a 4.5-length romp. He stepped up in grade last start and beat a good field by 1.8 lengths.

He will run at short odds and rightfully so.

Race 8. (01:15) Sing Woo C3 Handicap (1650m)

#12 – Thunder Stomp – Bet Now

Thunder Stomp is an experienced runner of 61 starts, which includes seven wins and 12 placings. One of those wins came last start at Happy Valley where he was 2.3 lengths better than the opposition.

He has returned to form of late and his last three starts have resulted in two placings and a win. We’re expecting that form to continue with 52.5kg on his back.

Race 9. (01:50) King Kwong C3 Handicap (1200m)

#1 – Highly Proactive – Bet Now

Going for his third consecutive win, Highly Proactive has been exactly that. The four-year-old has defeated some classy fields of late and this is another strong challenge.

The Lui-trained runner owns four wins from only six starts and he has been rising through the grades with distinction. It could result in another win, despite rising up in weight.

Most of the money will come his way on race night.
