Happy Valley horse racing tips

Race 1. (21:45) Tsz Wan Shan C4 Handicap (2200m)

#8 – Go Ballistic – Bet @ Sportsbet

The six-year-old gelding by Duke of Marmalade scored a win earlier this preparation and he got back to his best form last start.

He finished second at Happy Valley and that’s where he does his best racing. He owns two wins and three placings on the track.

Carrying only 51.5kg with Joao Moreira in the saddle is a bonus.

Race 2. (22:15) Wang Tau Hom C5 Handicap (1200m)

#3 – Zacian – Bet @ Sportsbet

Zacian comes off four consecutive placings and the five-year-old gelding deserves a winning turn.

The son of Albrecht was a short margin behind the winner at Sha Tin last start and that form bodes well for Happy Valley.

Zac Purton rides and he should get a nice drag into the race from the draw.

Race 3. (22:45) Ma Tau Kok C4 Handicap (1000m)

#4 – Lightning Storm – Bet @ Sportsbet

Lightning Storm won by a nose on debut at Happy Valley and he could go back-to-back with the break under his belt.

The four-year-old son of Per Incanto paid only $2 on debut, so punters shouldn’t expect a big price on this occasion.

It’s another good ride for Purton and he could have a successful start to the night.

Race 4. (23:15) Mau Tau Wai C4 Handicap (1200m)

#1 – Prance Dragon – Bet @ Sportsbet

Prance Dragon is having his fifth start this campaign and he already owns a win and a placing.

The seven-year-old son of Power won by a nose two starts back at Happy Valley, which was his fifth career victory.

He has been punished in the weights for having a good record, but despite some things going against him, we’re putting him on top.

Race 5. (23:45) To Kwa Wan C4 Handicap (1650m)

#6 – Glorious Lover – Bet @ Sportsbet

Glorious Lover owns only one win from 30 starts, but the six-year-old has been close on many occasions.

He comes off consecutive second placings, including finishing second by a nose at Happy Valley last month.

It’s another good ride for Moreira and punters should get each-way odds.

Race 6. (00:15) Kowloon Tsai C3 Handicap (1200m)

#6 – Colonel – Bet @ Sportsbet

The son of Ferlax hasn’t won for a while but it’s not for the lack of trying. He already owns three placings this season and he deserves a win.

The Yiu-trained runner does his racing at Happy Valley, so he’s experienced on the track and he has been facing tough fields.

Carrying 54.5kg gives him every chance to win and each-way odds will be available.

Race 7. (00:45) Ma Tau Wai C4 Handicap (1200m)

#2 – Savvy Delight – Bet @ Sportsbet

Savvy Delight finished fourth on debut at Happy Valley before improving to run second behind Lucky Archangel.

The son of Exceed and Excel was only a short margin behind the winner, so’s close to breaking his maiden status.

Barrier six is ideal and it’s another premium ride for Moreira.

Race 8. (01:15) Kowloon City C3 Handicap (1000m)

#3 – Joyful Win – Bet @ Sportsbet

Joyful Win comes off consecutive wins at Happy Valley and he looks like a good chance of making it three on the bounce.

The four-year-old is a four-time winner from 10 starts at Happy Valley, so he’s a course specialist and only the wide barrier is working against him.

We expect plenty of money to come for him on race day.

Race 9. (01:50) Lok Fu C3 Handicap (1650m)

#1 – Cheerful Days – Bet @ Sportsbet

Cheerful Days scored three consecutive wins before finishing seventh behind Incanto Prepared last start.

His winning streak was impressive, which included a 2.8-length win at Happy Valley. He isn’t always the most consistent runner, but he’s more talented than most here.

Look for a betting push on race night.
