Happy Valley horse racing tips

Race 1. (21:45) Murray C5 Handicap (1200m)

#5 – Vital Spring – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Lui-trained eight-year-old isn’t getting any younger, but he is knocking on the door of his third career win.

He finished third at Happy Valley his last two starts, and the son of Per Incanto doesn’t face an overly tough field on Wednesday night.

Punters should get each-way odds.

Race 2. (22:15) Queensway C5 Handicap (1650m)

#5 – Virtus Star – Bet @ Sportsbet

Virtus Star took 21 starts to break maidens but he produced three consecutive wins in fine style.

The five-year-old backed up those wins with a fourth at Happy Valley, and a last start third placing behind Baby Storm.

His form stacks up nicely in this race, and he will pay generous odds with bookmakers.

Race 3. (22:45) Ice House C4 Handicap (1200m)

#2 – Jazz Stead – Bet @ Sportsbet

Getting close to another win is Jazz Stead, which owns two wins and four placings at Happy Valley.

The Caspar Fownes-trained son of Exceed And Excel finished only 1.1 lengths behind the winner last start, and that form stacks up well.

Alfred Chan takes 3kg off his back and that brings him into contention.

Race 4. (23:15) Ice House C4 Handicap (1200m)

#4 – Ever Force – Bet @ Sportsbet

Ever Force comes off a tidy performance for fourth at Happy Valley, and it won’t take him long to get off the mark.

The son of Toronado gets the services of Zac Purton, and drawing the inside barrier will provide him with every chance to win.

We expect money to come for him throughout the day.

Race 5. (23:45) Glenealy C4 Handicap (1000m)

#3 – Whiskey Neat – Bet @ Sportsbet

The former New Zealand runner hasn’t shown his best form in Hong Kong, but he’s getting close to winning.

He has notched back-to-back placings at Happy Valley, and although yet to win on the track, he doesn’t meet an overly tough field here.

Joao Moreira rides and that’s a good sign.

Race 6. (00:15) Lambeth C4 Handicap (1650m)

#4 – V Chevaliers – Bet @ Sportsbet

The six-year-old son of Ocean Park has been around the mark his entire career, and he should prove tough to beat.

He scored a half-length win at Happy Valley two starts back and followed it up with a solid third placing earlier this month.

Drawing barrier six is ideal and he has upside.

Race 7. (00:45) Connaught C3 Handicap (1000m)

#8 – Fabulous Eight – Bet @ Sportsbet

Fabulous Eight hasn’t finished worse than fourth from his last 10 starts, which is excellent consistency.

He is a two-time winner and eight-time placegetter from 15 starts, and although yet to win at Happy Valley, he’s getting close.

It’s another good ride for Joao Moreira, and punters should take the odds available.

Race 8. (01:15) Chater C2 Handicap (1650m)

#4 – Sunshine Warrior – Bet @ Sportsbet

Sunshine Warrior scored a narrow win on this track two starts back, and he wasn’t far behind them at Sha Tin last start.

The six-year-old son of Pierro is a three-time winner at Happy Valley, and he often pays a handsome price with bookmakers.

Zac Purton rides, so expect slightly shorter odds this time around.

Race 9. (01:50) Des Voeux C3 Handicap (1650m)

#4 – Royal Bomb – Bet @ Sportsbet

Royal Bomb comes off a win at Sha Tin and there is plenty to like about that form. The son of Zebedee held off a strong field, and moving to Happy Valley should suit.

He has had three runs in Hong Kong for one win, and his form in Australia was good enough to be competitive here.

Expect another top effort from barrier two.
