Happy Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (21:45) Kingston C4 Handicap (1200m)
#6 – Focus – Bet Now
Focus is a four-year-old gelding that broke through for his maiden win at Happy Valley last time out and he could kick on with it now.
He showed no form at Sha Tin last season but has bounced back nicely this time in. Switching to Happy Valley has made all the difference and he looks a good chance here.
Each way odds are on offer and he’ll get a good run from barrier five.
Race 2. (22:15) Kingston C4 Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Happy Alumni – Bet Now
Happy Alumni has been close in two runs back from a spell and a win won’t be far away.
The four-year-old by Starcraft kicked off this season with a second placing at Happy Valley before running only 1.7 lengths behind the winner last start.
He does carry a big weight of 59.5kg for this but this isn’t the strongest field he’ll ever see and a maiden win is coming.
Race 3. (22:45) Paterson C4 Handicap (1650m)
#10 – Happy Hour – Bet Now
It was happy hour for punters last start when the five-year-old gelding scored his third win from 21 career attempts.
Happy Hour scored easily by two lengths on this track and we’re expecting him to kick on with it now.
Silvestre De Sousa gets back in the saddle after riding him twice already this season and he only needs some luck from barrier 13.
Carrying only 53kg is going to help his chances.
Race 4. (23:15) Kingston C4 Handicap (1200m)
#7 – Noble Man – Bet Now
John Size lines up the four-year-old gelding that is looking to go one better after finishing second on debut.
He’s a well-bred type by Exceed And Excel that was only 0.8 of a length behind the winner on debut and Joao Moreira sticks with him.
That’s a good sign and he shouldn’t take too long to break maiden grades. It could come here and he should pay a nice price.
Race 5. (23:45) Paterson C4 Handicap (1650m)
#12 – Everyone’s Elite – Bet Now
Consistency is with the five-year-old which has rattled off three consecutive placings.
The Manfred Man-trained gelding finished third fresh up at Sha Tin before running consecutive second placings on this track.
His most recent run came with only 52kg on the back and he drops even lower to 51.5kg for this run.
He will be tough to beat and will pay a handy price.
Race 6. (00:15) The January Cup (1800m)
#6 – Harmony Victory – Bet Now
Charlie Shum lines up the talented gelding which is coming off a tidy second placing at Sha Tin.
A son of Public Purse, the five-year-old has faced some stiff opposition during his time, including former Australian runner Furore.
His most recent run came over the mile but he should be better suited over longer distances. The 1800m is ideal and there has been plenty of early money come his way in the market.
Race 7. (00:45) Great George C3 Handicap (1800m)
#7 – Party Together – Bet Now
Yet to win from 11 starts, Party Together has been producing better efforts of late and could finally break through here.
The Ho-trained runner is coming off a second placing at Happy Valley and although four lengths behind the winner, he still defeated 10 other runners.
He prefers racing at Happy Valley as opposed to Sha Tin and from barrier two, we’re expecting him to be right around the mark again.
Race 8. (01:15) Causeway C3 Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Joyful Union – Bet Now
Joyful Union is a consistent winner of three from 11 starts and he also has two placings on his record.
The five-year-old gelding by Towkay comes into this with back-to-back placings and although his most recent win came in March, he’s due a winning turn now.
It’s good to see Zac Purton in the saddle and we’re confident he’ll provide punters with a good sight in this.
Race 9. (01:50) Causeway C3 Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Aurora Pegasus – Bet Now
Aurora Pegasus comes into this race in fine form. The five-year-old gelding has won three consecutive races and they have all come on this track.
His first win came by a half-length before he put his opposition away by 1.3 lengths in October. He backed up that win in November and he has been given a freshen up for this.
Draws the inside barrier and Purton rides. He should go close at generous odds.
