Happy Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (20:45) Violet Hill C4 Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Harrier Jet – Bet Now
Harrier Jet is coming off a win at Happy Valley and he is capable of going back-to-back. The Paul O’Sullivan-trained gelding is an eight-year-old but he turned back time.
It is good to see Zac Purton staying in the saddle of the son of Dane Shadow. That should give punters confidence to back him in again.
Race 2. (21:15) Violet Hill C4 Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Hero Time – Bet Now
Richard Gibson lines up the six-year-old that scored a close win on this track to start this preparation. He didn’t follow it up with a win last start, but he could bounce back.
The son of Mint Lane is a three-time winner at Happy Valley and his form typically improves with a couple of runs under his belt.
It is another ride for Purton and he could do the job.
Race 3. (21:45) Wong Nai Chung Gap C4 Handicap (1650m)
#3 – Focus – Bet Now
Focus scored a win three back and followed that up with consecutive placings. The Yiu-trained gelding could have easily won three on the bounce with some luck.
It holds him in good stead for this race and punters typically get each-way value for this runner. That should be the case on Wednesday and having Karis Teetan in the saddle helps.
He should win another race in quick time.
Race 4. (22:15) Wong Nai Chung Gap C4 Handicap (1650m)
#11 – Daily Beauty – Bet Now
It was an improved run from Daily Beauty at Happy Valley last start and he gets the services of Joao Moreira for this run.
The son of All American finished only a nose behind the winner and his odds will be much shorter than $15 this time around.
The booking of Moreira is big and carrying 52.5kg won’t hurt his chances either.
Race 5. (22:45) Shouson Hill C4 Handicap (1000m)
#12 – Demon’s Rock – Bet Now
The David Hall-trained gelding has been in good for this season, which includes a win and a placing from three starts.
He scored his win at Sha Tin and it came by almost two lengths. That win holds him in good stead for this race and although yet to win at Happy Valley, that could change this time around.
Carrying 51.5kg brings him right into contention at each-way odds.
Race 6. (23:15) Mount Gough C3 Handicap (1200m)
#3 – Highland Fortune – Bet Now
The son of Declaration of War is a two-time winner from 13 starts and he could add another win to his record.
He enters this race having scored at Happy Valley by a half-length and we like his chances of doubling down on that effort.
It is another good ride for Purton and he could guide him to victory.
Race 7. (23:45) Mount Cameron C2 Handicap (1650m)
#8 – Helena Baby – Bet Now
Helena Baby was a classy runner in New Zealand but he hasn’t found his feet in Hong Kong. The five-race winner in NZ finished third at Group 1 level and showed a resemblance of that form two starts back.
We are prepared to give him another chance and the booking of Moreira helps. He sees the ability in the legs and with only 53kg on his back, he should go well.
Race 8. (00:15) Mount Nicholson C3 Handicap (1650m)
#6 – Best Alliance – Bet Now
Best Alliance is only a three-time winner from 32 starts but he has been running solid races this season and deserves respect.
The five-year-old won at Happy Valley in March before running two fourths and then placing last month. All his recent efforts suggest that he could take out a race of this quality.
Take the each-way odds available.
Race 9. (00:50) Magazine Gap C2 Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Shining Ace – Bet Now
Shining Ace has won two of his last three starts and there is plenty to like about that form. The four-year-old scored by 1.5 lengths last start and he has class on his side.
He loves running at Happy Valley with 12 starts for three wins and seven placings, so put him on top in the final race of the night.
