Happy Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (22:15) Wistaria C5 Handicap (2200m)
#9 – Wicker – Bet Now
Richard Gibson lines up Wicker, which has one win from 16 starts, and faces only a moderate field here. The four-year-old son of Ocean Park scored last December and has been knocking on the door since.
His most recent run came on this track when finishing fifth in February, so with the break, he should be ready to fire.
This distance looks ideal, so consider.
Race 2. (22:45) Osmanthus C4 Handicap (1200m)
#10 – After Me – Bet Now
The three-time winner could get back to winning form after producing a nice effort for second last start. He was under a length behind the winner when running second, so a repeat effort would take him close.
He’s a son of Equiano, which runs his best races at Happy Valley and he’s not far off winning his fourth race.
Race 3. (23:15) Cassia C3 Handicap (1000m)
#4 – Mig Energy – Bet Now
There has been strong betting moves for Mig Energy, which showed solid form in Australia. He’s having his first start for Tony Cruz, and his best form would take him close.
He was a winner on debut at Moonee Valley before running behind the likes of Brutal, Encryption, and Propelle.
He should find this level of racing more to his liking and we’re not surprised at the money coming for him.
Race 4. (23:45) Verbena C4 Handicap (1650m)
#2 – Triumphant Horse – Bet Now
The form of Triumphant Horse might not read well, but he was only 1.8 lengths behind the winner last start. He’s a son of Captain Sonador, which hasn’t been winning of late, but finds an easy field here.
The winner of two from 16 starts, he’s getting close to notching his third win and with Joao Moreira in the saddle, his chances increase.
Each-way odds should be offered by bookmakers.
Race 5. (00:15) Osmanthus C4 Handicap (1200m)
#3 – Gunnar – Bet Now
Gunnar is a consistent type for Caspar Fownes, which has finished in the money in six of his 13 starts. He has won only once, but he is rarely too far behind the winners.
His chances are helped by an inside draw and Blake Shinn takes the ride. That bodes well for a good run and punters will get nice odds.
Race 6. (00:45) Magnolia C3 Handicap (1650m)
#8 – Heavenly Thought – Bet Now
Looking to go back-to-back is Heavenly Thought, which scored by just under a length at Happy Valley last start.
Trained by Frankie Lor, the five-year-old is a four-time winner that has been running well this season and he could add to his impressive record.
Joao Moreira stays in the saddle and that’s always good to see.
Race 7. (01:15) Dianthus C3 Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Californiadeepshot – Bet Now
The Tony Cruz-trained colt won his first two starts in Australia before heading to Hong Kong and having immediate success.
He scored a 1.5-length win at Happy Valley in January before rising in class and running fifth and third respectively.
His return to winning form is eminent and it could come in this race.
Race 8. (01:50) Begonia C2 Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Amazing Star – Bet Now
The son of Darci Brahma rattled off three consecutive wins on this track before running seventh when up in grade last start.
He is a quality type that will appreciate the drop in class and we’re expecting some sizable bets to come his way.
Zac Purton rides and he looks a good bet in the last.
