Happy Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (21:15) Tung Lung Chau C5 Handicap (1200m)
#4 – Valiant Elegance – Bet @ Sportsbet
Valiant Elegance comes off back-to-back third placings and the four-year-old isn’t far off a win.
The son of Salade finished only a length behind the winner at Happy Valley last start and he wasn’t far behind the winner at Sha Tin two back.
Jerry Chau takes 2.5kg off his back and that’s a bonus.
Race 2. (21:45) Waglan Island C5 Handicap (1800m)
#7 – Fairy Floss – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Paul O’Sullivan-trained five-year-old has won two of his last four starts and both came at Sha Tin.
He is a son of Guillotine that scored by a half-length two back and getting the services of Zac Purton in the saddle is a big help.
Barrier three is ideal and punters should get each-way odds.
Race 3. (22:15) Grass Island C3 Handicap (1000m)
#1 – Winner Method – Bet @ Sportsbet
Winner Method is unbeaten after three starts and we expect his unbeaten record to remain intact on Wednesday.
The three-year-old son of Deep Field has won all three races by over a length and despite rising in weight, he is more than capable.
It’s another good ride for Purton and punters should include him in selections.
Race 4. (22:45) Ninepin Group C4 Handicap (1200m)
#3 – Beauty Cheers – Bet @ Sportsbet
Beauty Cheers has steadily improved throughout his career and he comes off a third placing at Sha Tin.
The four-year-old gelding was only 1.9 lengths off the winner and we don’t think he’ll be starting as a double-figure odds chance again.
Joao Moreira takes the ride and he should get every chance from barrier four.
Race 5. (23:15) Ninepin Group C4 Handicap (1200m)
#9 – Little Thunder – Bet @ Sportsbet
Tony Millard lines up the five-year-old gelding that owns two wins and three placings from eight starts at Sha Tin.
The son of Hussonet scored by 2.5 lengths in March and although he finished sixth last start, he was only 2.5 lengths behind the winner.
Barrier three is ideal and punters get value odds.
Race 6. (23:45) Tiu Chung Chau C4 Handicap (1650m)
#4 – Lady First – Bet @ Sportsbet
Lady First looked the goods earlier this season when scoring by three lengths at Sha Tin and he followed it up with four consecutive placings.
The seven-year-old owns only two wins from 45 starts, but he is extremely consistent and worth including in selections.
Karis Teetan rides and there has been early money come his way.
Race 7. (00:15) Kau Sai Chau C3 Handicap (1400m)
#9 – Super Winner – Bet @ Sportsbet
Super Winner is in career-best form after posting three wins from his last four starts, including back-to-back wins at Sha Tin.
The five-year-old scored impressively by three lengths two back and followed it up with a narrow win last month.
We’re not surprised by the short odds available and he gets Moreira in the saddle.
Race 8. (00:50) Kat O C3 Handicap (1200m)
#2 – California Concord – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Tony Cruz-trained five-year-old is rarely too far away from the prize and he is getting close to an overdue win.
He has finished second at his last two starts and two of his four career wins have come at Sha Tin, so returning to this track won’t be an issue.
It’s another quality ride for Joao Moreira and he could end the night with a win.
