Happy Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (20:45) Ma Tau Wai C4 Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Colonel – Bet @ Sportsbet
Colonel comes off a much-improved second placing and the four-year-old should win soon.
The son of Ferlax is a two-time winner from 19 starts and his best form has come at Happy Valley, which bodes well for this contest.
His only worry is barrier 12 but he should be able to navigate it.
Race 2. (21:15) Kowloon City C3 Handicap (1650m)
#2 – Sunny Star – Bet @ Sportsbet
Sunny Star is rarely far away from the prize and with three wins and five placings from 11 starts, he should be tough to hold out.
The four-year-old scored by 1.8 lengths at Happy Valley three starts back and he has gone close in two subsequent runs.
Barrier two is ideal and he should be right in the mix.
Race 3. (21:45) Ma Tau Kok C4 Handicap (1000m)
#5 – Sugamo – Bet @ Sportsbet
Sugamo looked solid when running fourth on debut and the betting support has come again. He started as a $4 chance at Sha Tin and he should be shorter here.
Joao Moreira sticks with him and although barrier nine is tricky over the 1000m, you wouldn’t want anyone else in the saddle.
Expect him to break maidens soon.
Race 4. (22:15) Ma Tau Wai C4 Handicap (1200m)
#4 – Peak to Peak – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Frankie Lor-trained three-year-old finished third at his last two starts and we’re expecting that form to hold up well.
He is a son of More Than Ready that deserves a win after never finishing worse than fifth from seven career starts.
Moreira rides and this will be his best chance.
Race 5. (22:45) Ma Tau Wai C4 Handicap (1200m)
#6 – Vigor Champ – Bet @ Sportsbet
The five-year-old gelding scored a win at Happy Valley last start and he’s capable of going back-to-back.
He won by two lengths last month and he should be fitter for the short break. The two-time winner could kick on with it now and drawing barrier two is ideal.
Punters should expect another tidy effort.
Race 6. (23:15) To Kwa Wan C4 Handicap (1650m)
#7 – Rainbow Light – Bet @ Sportsbet
Rainbow Light is getting close to posting his first win after consecutive second placings at Happy Valley.
The four-year-old ran second by only a nose two starts back and he was only 1.5 lengths behind the winner last start.
Karis Teetan sticks with him and that is a good sign.
Race 7. (23:45) Hung Hom Bay C3 Handicap (1200m)
#4 – Stock Legend – Bet @ Sportsbet
Stock Legend owns four wins at Happy Valley from eight attempts and he could add another on Wednesday.
The four-year-old son of Sidestep got the job done nicely last start and getting the inside draw is ideal for this run.
Punters should get each-way odds to enjoy.
Race 8. (00:15) Hung Hom Bay C3 Handicap (1200m)
#10 – Fighting Star – Bet @ Sportsbet
Double-figure odd should be available for Fighting Star, which has improved steadily this season.
The three-year-old comes off a fourth at Happy Valley and the former Australian, which won at Newcastle before placing at Rosehill, is capable of winning.
Expect a solid effort at value odds.
Race 9. (00:50) Hok Yuen C2 Handicap (1200m)
#5 – Handsome Bo Bo – Bet @ Sportsbet
Handsome Bo Bo scored a 1.5-length win four back at Happy Valley and he is close to producing another winning effort.
The six-year-old son of Helmet is knocking on the door after two second placings and he gets a good draw and a light weight.
Punters should get value odds on race night.
