Happy Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (20:45) Gladiolus C4 Handicap (1200m)
#3 – Monkey Jewellery – Bet Now
The career of Monkey Jewellery started well and although he has slipped over the last couple of years, he could bounce back here.
He’s a five-year-old with two wins and four placings, including a third placing at Happy Valley last start. It’s solid form coming into this race and he could take advantage.
Joao Moreira rides and that helps.
Race 2. (21:15) Lotus C4 Handicap (1650m)
#3 – Rich and Lucky – Bet Now
Rich and Lucky is fresh up having not raced since February and he could make an immediate impression. The four-year-old owns one win and two placings from six starts and he has good upside.
Zac Purton has yet to finish worse than second on the son of Kingman and that holds him in good stead for this race.
Punters should get each-way odds.
Race 3. (21:45) Gladiolus C4 Handicap (1200m)
#4 – Yee Cheong Pegasus – Bet Now
Consistency is with Yee Cheong Pegasus, which scored a two-length win at Sha Tin earlier this year. He followed that up with two second placings and it bodes well.
It’s another good ride for Moreira and although he’ll drive the price down, he’s the man to have in the saddle.
We’re expecting another tidy effort from this runner.
Race 4. (22:15) Lotus C4 Handicap (1650m)
#1 – Methane – Bet Now
Methane hasn’t done much wrong throughout his career and he should prove tough to beat. The four-year-old by Pierro scored his maiden win earlier this year and his efforts since have been good.
He placed on this track last start when finishing a half-length behind Lasting Friendship. It was a solid effort and he gets the services of Karis Teetan in the saddle.
Punters should get each-way odds on race night.
Race 5. (22:45) Gladiolus C4 Handicap (1200m)
#6 – Destine Jewellery – Bet Now
John Size lines up the four-year-old that is coming off a tidy win at Happy Valley. The son of I Am Invincible scored by 1.5 lengths and it’s good to see Chad Schofield stick with him.
He could kick on with it now and from barrier three he’s going to get every chance in the run. He’s going forward and he should prove tough to beat.
Race 6. (23:15) Carnation C3 Handicap (1000m)
#7 – Very Sweet Orange – Bet Now
Very Sweet Orange was good enough to score three consecutive wins earlier this campaign. The five-year-old didn’t fire last start but he should be able to bounce back.
He’s a son of Exceed and Excel that owns five wins and three placings on this track and he has every chance of winning again.
Expect a rebound performance.
Race 7. (23:45) Chamomile C3 Handicap (1650m)
#1 – Sunshine Warrior – Bet Now
Sunshine Warrior continues his good form after winning back-to-back races. The Tony Cruz-trained gelding is unbeaten in two starts on this track and he could keep that record intact.
The son of Pierro is running well and although carrying 60.5kg for this run, he should be tough to hold out with Schofield in the saddle.
Race 8. (00:15) Celosia C3 Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Golden Dash – Bet Now
Golden Dash returned from a spell with a handy second placing at Happy Valley and he could go one better here.
The five-year-old son of Snitzel has missed a win or placing in only three from 10 starts, so he’s consistent and easily good enough to beat this field.
He only needs luck from the wide draw.
Race 9. (00:50) Camellia C2 Handicap (1650m)
#8 – Enrichment – Bet Now
Enrichment is knocking on the door after three consecutive second placings. The son of Teofilo hasn’t won for some time now but he’s getting close.
He was only a head away from winning last start and Joao Moreira sticks with him, which is a good sign.
