Happy Valley horse racing tips

Race 1. (21:45) Wan Chai Gap C5 Handicap (1650m)

#1 – Off the Reel – Bet @ Sportsbet

Off the Reel owns only one placing from 10 starts, but that came last time out when running second at Happy Valley.

The four-year-old son of Dundeel was fancied at each-way odds in betting markets, so the confidence levels are starting to grow.

Getting Zac Purton in the saddle is a bonus, so expect a tidy effort.

Race 2. (22:15) Victoria Gap C4 Handicap (1650m)

#11 – Kung Fu Tea – Bet @ Sportsbet

Kung Fu Tea has yet to fire at Happy Valley, but his form at Sha Tin is good enough for this contest.

The David Hall-trained six-year-old owns a win and two placings from 12 starts, and dropping to 52kg could tip the scales in his favour.

Matthew Poon rides and there is early market confidence.

Race 3. (22:45) Mount Gough C4 Handicap (1000m)

#1 – Happy Tango – Bet @ Sportsbet

Happy Tango didn’t fire at Sha Tin last start, but his form at Happy Valley prior included a win and two second placings.

The six-year-old owns one win and five placings from 11 starts on the track, so we expect him to bounce back from his last-start effort.

Karis Teetan rides and that is a positive.

Race 4. (23:15) Mount Davis C3 Handicap (1800m)

#4 – Meaningful Star – Bet @ Sportsbet

Meaningful Star has yet to run worse than third in three starts this campaign, so he goes on top in an even field.

The four-year-old son of Pivotal turned his form around incredibly this season, so he’s trending in the right direction.

Punters should get each-way odds on race night.

Race 5. (23:45) Mount Kellett C4 Handicap (1200m)

#1 – Infinity Win – Bet @ Sportsbet

The four-year-old son of Proisir hasn’t done much wrong from four career starts, including three placings.

He looks set to break through soon after finishing close behind some smart types in Jazz Stead and Infinite Power.

He’s taking on race winners, but we’re confident in his ability.

Race 6. (00:15) High West C2 Handicap (1200m)

#6 – Drops of God – Bet @ Sportsbet

Coming off a win at Sha Tin is Drops of God, who scored impressively by a length against a tidy field.

The four-year-old son of Mossman owns three wins and two placings from six starts, so he has an impressive start to his career.

Carrying 52.5kg with Joao Moreira could be enough to get the job done.

Race 7. (00:45) Victoria Gap C4 Handicap (1650m)

#3 – Red Majesty – Bet @ Sportsbet

The son of Ferlax is a four-time winner from nine starts at Happy Valley, including a win in September.

He is also a four-time winner at this distance and he’s running well enough to go close against this company.

It’s another good ride for Zac Purton, so he should go well.

Race 8. (01:15) Lung Fu Shan C3 Handicap (1200m)

#8 – Astrologer – Bet @ Sportsbet

Astrologer is a former Australian three-year-old who has form around some smart types, including She’s All Class and Shaquero.

Group form from Australia stacks up nicely against this company, and although it’s not easy to win fresh-up in Hong Kong, but we’re sticking with him.

Punters get value odds for this contest.

Race 9. (01:50) Lung Fu Shan C3 Handicap (1200m)

#2 – Diamond Brilliant – Bet @ Sportsbet

Diamond Brilliant owns three wins from his last four starts, including a win at Happy Valley last time out.

The son of Not a Single Doubt likes to fight when winning, so we’re expecting him to get into another tight tussle down the straight.

Purton could close the night on a winning note.
