Happy Valley horse racing tips

Race 1. (21:45) Battery Path C5 Handicap (1200m)

#3 – Blooming Spirit – Bet Now

Blooming Spirit comes into this having finished fourth at Sha Tin last start and should find this an easing in class.

The Frankie Lor-trained four-year-old was only 2.8 lengths behind the winner Blazing Partners and he’s only going to improve off that.

It’s good to see Joao Moreira sticking with the son of Spirit of Boom and we’re confident of a good run here.

Race 2. (22:15) Bank Street C4 Handicap (1200m)

#4 – Confucius Day – Bet Now

Confucius Day is having his fourth start this season and that race fitness will hold him in good stead for this.

The son of Ocean Park has had all three runs at Happy Valley, which includes consecutive placings to open his season.

His second placing fresh up was top class when running only a half-length behind Very Sweet Orange. That form has since stacked up nicely and he should run well here.

Race 3. (22:45) Des Voeux C4 Handicap (1650m)

#8 – Speedy Wally – Bet Now

The Caspar Fownes-trained runner has been knocking on the door of another win and it could come here.

He’s a nine-year-old gelding, so he’s not lacking in experience, but that could help him against this field.

His last three starts have resulted in placings and the six-time winner has seemingly grown another leg this season.

Gets a good run from the draw and Moreira rides.

Race 4. (23:15) Queen’s Road Central C4 Handicap (1000m)

#6 – Very Sweet Orange – Bet Now

The five-year-old son of Exceed And Excel was a winner fresh up at Happy Valley and most of his form has come on this track.

He didn’t fire second up at Sha Tin, but he has never run well on that track. His form at Happy Valley consists of nine starts for two wins and three placings.

That form should be good enough to see him contesting for the win again and punters will be getting good odds.

Race 5. (23:45) Sutherland C3 Handicap (1200m)

#6 – Shining Ace – Bet Now

Consistency is with Shining Ace, which has finished in the money in seven of his 12 career starts.

The John Size-trained four-year-old scored a good win two back at Happy Valley and backed that up with a solid third placing last start.

He was only a half-length behind the winner, so take nothing away from that performance.

Money will be with him and it could pay to follow.

Race 6. (00:15) The Wayfoong Centenary Bowl (1200m)

#8 – Monkey Jewellery – Bet Now

The five-year-old scored narrowly when fresh up at Sha Tin and has since gone through his gears.

He’s a John Size-trained runner which didn’t quite handle the rise in class his last couple, but meets an even field here.

Carrying 54kg will certainly help his chances and he’ll get a good run from barrier five.

Race 7. (00:45) Jackson C3 Handicap (1650m)

#7 – Universal Go Go – Bet Now

Universal Go Go has been ultra-consistent this year, which consists of placing second at his last four starts.

The Lui-trained runner has been in the money in nine of his 15 starts and although he hasn’t won since January, he’s knocking on the door.

The Kiwi-bred son of Azamour is used to running on this track and should produce yet another tidy display.

Race 8. (01:15) Sutherland C3 Handicap (1200m)

#4 – Snap Fit – Bet Now

Snap Fit is unbeaten after three starts and he’ll be looking to remain that way following this race.

The five-year-old is a New Zealand-bred runner which scored by a narrow margin last start and he will only improve with the fitness.

Jockey Zac Purton has steady with him for every run to date and nothing will change this Wednesday night.

Drawn well and the odds will be interesting.

Race 9. (01:50) Maurice C2 Handicap (1650m)

#6 – Happy Dragon – Bet Now

Happy Dragon has returned this season in fine order and he could continue that here.

The John Moore-trained five-year-old scored a fresh-up win on this track by a half-length before running second last time out.

That did come behind race-rival Playa Del Puente, but he could turn the tables here.

Punters will get each-way odds.
