Happy Valley horse racing tips

Race 1. (21:45) Fukushima C5 Handicap (1200m)

#8 – Telecom Missile – Bet @ Sportsbet

Telecom Missile is only a one-time winner from 17 starts, but that win came at Sha Tin three starts back.

The five-year-old son of Smart Missile has yet to do much in five runs at Happy Valley, but he’s not meeting an overly strong field here.

Inside draw is ideal and Joao Moreira rides.

Race 2. (22:15) Kyoto C4 Handicap (1200m)

#4 – Happily Friends – Bet @ Sportsbet

The five-year-old runs his best races at Happy Valley with 15 starts for one win and five placings.

He scored a win on this track three back and his efforts since returning from a spell include back-to-back fourths.

Carrying 55.5kg is ideal and we’re putting him on top.

Race 3. (22:45) Kyoto C4 Handicap (1200m)

#4 – Fortune Carrier – Bet @ Sportsbet

Charlie Shum lines up the four-year-old gelding who hasn’t done much wrong in three starts this preparation.

The son of Your Song won fresh up at Happy Valley before running fourth and third in consecutive runs as the short-priced favourite.

It’s another good ride for Moreira, so put him on top.

Race 4. (23:15) Hanshin C4 Handicap (1800m)

#8 – All Joyful – Bet @ Sportsbet

All Joyful is searching for three consecutive wins and we wouldn’t be backing against the son of Shocking.

The five-year-old scored both wins this season by 1.3 lengths and he got past some nice types last start, so that form stacks up.

Barrier 11 is the only negative, but we like his chances.

Race 5. (23:45) Kyoto C4 Handicap (1200m)

#11 – Good Shot – Bet @ Sportsbet

Good Shot hasn’t done much in two runs back from a spell, but the seven-year-old did enough fresh up to consider.

The son of Swiss Ace finished only 1.3 lengths behind the winner before struggling last start. If he can replicate his fresh up effort, he’s a chance.

Moreira rides and that will drive down the odds.

Race 6. (00:15) Kokura C3 Handicap (1000m)

#1 – Harmony Fire – Bet @ Sportsbet

Harmony Fire owns three wins and three placings from eight starts, so he has plenty going for him.

The four-year-old son of Brazen Beau scored back-to-back wins to end last season, and his efforts in two runs back have been solid.

Zac Purton rides and punters should be confident.

Race 7. (00:45) The Japan Racing Association Handicap (1650m)

#11 – Sunny Star – Bet @ Sportsbet

Sunny Star has been right around the mark in two runs back from a spell, including a third at Happy Valley.

The son of Flatter owns two wins and three placings on this track, so he does his best racing here. That is a good sign and dropping to 53kg is ideal.

Punters should get each-way value odds on race night.

Race 8. (01:15) Nakayama C3 Handicap (1200m)

#1 – Classic Posh – Bet @ Sportsbet

A winner fresh up, Classic Posh looks set to get back to winning form. The six-year-old son of Testa Rossa has since run third twice, so he’s loving the track.

He owns three wins and three placings at Happy Valley, and despite carrying a big weight, he should be tough to hold out.

Purton rides, so the confidence levels rise.

Race 9. (01:50) Tokyo C3 Handicap (1650m)

#5 – King’s Capital – Bet @ Sportsbet

King’s Capital scored a narrow fresh up win at Sha Tin and his efforts since have included a second placing at Happy Valley.

The son of Animal Kingdom was only a nose behind the winner on that occasion and he could improve his position.

Carrying 55kg with Purton in the saddle is ideal, so include at value odds.
