Happy Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (21:45) Harbour C4 Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Hero Time – Bet Now
The Richard Gibson-trained runner has been fair this campaign with consecutive fourths and he should strip fitter.
He has form behind the likes of Shamport and that’s going to stack up nicely in this grade. It’s the reason why he’s carrying 60.5kg, but Zac Purton takes the ride.
He’s the class runner in this field so treat with respect.
Race 2. (22:15) Fleming C5 Handicap (1650m)
#12 – Winning Circle – Bet Now
Winning Circle is getting closer to a win after producing a good run for second at Sha Tin last time out.
The Chang-trained runner hadn’t been in good form prior to that, but with race fitness on his side now, he should be going close.
There has been good early money for Winning Circle and carrying 51.5kg on his back makes him tough to beat.
Race 3. (22:45) Harbour C4 Handicap (1200m)
#11 – Master Albert – Bet Now
Master Albert looks set to make a winning run after three pleasing efforts this season.
The So-trained runner finished third fresh up before running consecutive fourths, which bodes well for this run.
Punters should be getting each-way odds here and with Karis Teetan in the saddle, they should be worth getting into.
Race 4. (23:15) The Lawasia Cup (1650m)
#4 – Zhan Jiang Rocks – Bet Now
That was a much better effort from Zhan Jiang Rocks when running third last start at Happy Valley.
He could kick on with it now and although his form last season was poor, he was always underachieving. Now, he has a good chance to live up to expectations.
It’s another good ride for Zac Purton and he could get the job done for punters.
Race 5. (23:45) Gloucester C4 Handicap (1800m)
#6 – Royal Racer – Bet Now
Royal Racer produced an improved run when third at Happy Valley last start and that bodes well for this run.
He was always going to need some time to mature this season and the Caspar Fownes-trained runner looks in good order for this.
Has experience racing against some nice types at Sha Tin and given the evenness of this field, he could take advantage.
Race 6. (00:15) Harbour C4 Handicap (1200m)
#6 – Super Winner – Bet Now
Super Winner has been well backed to date and this run should be no different. He was well-backed on debut at Sha Tin when running fifth.
He didn’t fire last time out but racing at Happy Valley should be a fitter fit for him. It’s good to see Karis Teetan in the saddle and that will help his chances.
Most of the early money has come for Super Winner and he could get the job done.
Race 7. (00:45) Jaffe C3 Handicap (1650m)
#3 – High Rev – Bet Now
David Hall lines up High Rev, which looked good winning on this track. He scored convincingly by 3.25 lengths and although he rises in weight, that shouldn’t worry him.
He’s an Australian-bred runner which has winning form and Purton in the saddle. He should run as the favourite as most of the early money is on him.
Drawn ideally in barrier two, so expect a nice effort.
Race 8. (01:15) Lockhart C3 Handicap (1000m)
#4 – Special Stars – Bet Now
Special Stars is getting close to a win following his run for second at Happy Valley.
The John Size-trained runner improved on his run for seventh fresh up and we’re expecting that improvement to continue.
Drawing barrier 11 isn’t ideal, but the Magic Man travels back from Melbourne to ride and that’s a good sign.
Race 9. (01:50) O’Brien C3 Handicap (1200m)
#9 – Nordic Warrior – Bet Now
Nordic Warrior put the writing on the wall last start when running second and he should continue to improve.
The Gibson-trained runner has steadily improved this season and he’s well-weighted with only 55.5kg on his back.
Zac Purton picks up the ride and that’s a positive.
