Happy Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (21:15) Quarry Bay C4 Handicap (1650m)
#2 – Free Foal – Bet @ Sportsbet
Free Foal looked good last campaign when scoring a win at Sha Tin and following it up with consecutive placings.
The four-year-old son of Press Statement finished four lengths behind the winner fresh up, which was a better run than it looked.
Punters should get value odds with a run under his belt.
Race 2. (21:45) Quarry Bay C4 Handicap (1650m)
#7 – All Joyful – Bet @ Sportsbet
Looking to score back-to-back wins is All Joyful, who turned his form around in a big way last time out.
The five-year-old son of Shocking scored by 1.3 lengths, and although we saw improved form towards the end of his last campaign, it did come out of the blue.
His form could continue to progress, so expect another top effort.
Race 3. (22:15) North Point C4 Handicap (1200m)
#8 – Happily Friends – Bet @ Sportsbet
Happily Friends scored a win at Happy Valley to end his last campaign, so it shouldn’t take him long to win this preparation.
The son of Requinto kicked off the season with a fourth at Happy Valley, running two lengths behind Baltic Whisper. It was a solid effort, and he should improve with the run under his belt.
Punters should get each-way odds for Happily Friends.
Race 4. (22:45) Wan Chai C5 Handicap (1800m)
#4 – Ka Fortune – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Paul O’Sullivan-trained five-year-old wasn’t far behind the winner fresh up, so we’re expecting a solid effort here.
He scored a one-length win at Happy Valley to end last season, so it shouldn’t take him long to find his best.
Barrier 10 isn’t ideal, but he has time to find cover over the 1800m distance.
Race 5. (23:15) North Point C4 Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Fire Ball – Bet @ Sportsbet
The five-year-old owns two wins and five placings from 14 starts, so he has been around the mark throughout his career.
He is a son of Burgundy, who finished 3.5 lengths behind the winner fresh up at Happy Valley. It was a good hit-out, and getting a 3kg claimer to ride is ideal.
He will need to show good barrier speed, but we’re confident of a winning run.
Race 6. (23:45) Causeway Bay C3 Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Solid Impact – Bet @ Sportsbet
Solid Impact showed excellent form in New Zealand when winning on debut by three lengths. He then placed in his next three starts behind some smart types.
His best run came behind Need I Say More in the Almanzor Trophy at Ellerslie, so we’re expecting that form to hold up at this level.
Punters could get each-way odds on race day.
Race 7. (00:15) Causeway Bay C3 Handicap (1200m)
#7 – Ever Force – Bet @ Sportsbet
Ever Force is a two-time winner from six starts, and he looks ready to fire up this season.
The four-year-old son of Toronado scored his wins consecutively in January and March this year before rising in class and running well.
Getting in with only 54.5kg on his back is ideal, and Joao Moreira is the man to have in the saddle.
Race 8. (00:50) Fortress Hill C3 Handicap (1650m)
#9 – Total Power – Bet @ Sportsbet
The six-year-old son of Dundeel looked good winning on this track earlier in the year before notching consecutive placings.
He is a four-time winner overall and two-time winner at Happy Valley, so he loves the track and two of his wins have come fresh up.
Carrying 53.5kg is ideal, so punters should expect a bold effort.
