Happy Valley horse racing tips

Race 1. (20:15) Shum Wan C4 Handicap (1200m)

#1 – Namjong Sings – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Charlie Shum-trained five-year-old is getting close to another win after posting a second placing at Happy Valley last start.

He was only a half-length behind Ares and we are expecting that form to hold up well at this level. It was his best performance in some time and he should derive plenty of confidence.

Zac Purton rides and he has been well-backed to score.

Race 2. (20:45) Waterfall Bay C5 Handicap (1650m)

#10 – Keep Winning – Bet @ Sportsbet

Keep Winning is a four-time winner and although a touch out of form, he isn’t facing a field of superstars on Wednesday night.

The six-year-old is well-weighted at 54kg and he wasn’t far behind the winner at Sha Tin last start. He should find this easier and punters are getting value each-way odds.

Race 3. (21:15) Tin Wan C4 Handicap (1650m)

#8 – Starlit Knight – Bet @ Sportsbet

Dropping down in weight will help Starlit Knight, which ran well enough for fifth at Happy Valley last time out.

The experienced eight-year-old is a seven-time winner, so he’s no stranger to crossing the line first. He hasn’t won for over a year, but he went close on numerous occasions.

Drawing barrier four helps and he should be tough to hold out.

Race 4. (21:45) Shek Pai Wan C4 Handicap (1000m)

#4 – Jazz Steed – Bet @ Sportsbet

Jazz Steed has been in good form this season, which includes a win and a close-up fourth last time out.

The Caspar Fownes-trained son of Exceed And Excel owns two wins and two placings from 11 starts, so he is rarely far away from the prize.

Jumping off the inside draw suits and Matthew Poon takes some weight off his back.

Race 5. (22:15) Tin Wan C4 Handicap (1650m)

#3 – Murray’s Partners – Bet @ Sportsbet

Murray’s Partners looked good winning consecutive starts earlier this year and he resumed with a handy third.

The Yip-trained son of Towkay runs best at Happy Valley and with a run under his belt this season, expect another solid effort.

Having Karis Teetan in the saddle helps and he won’t have to do much work from barrier three.

Race 6. (22:45) Kong Sin Wan C3 Handicap (1000m)

#5 – Harmony And Rich – Bet @ Sportsbet

Harmony And Rich did enough last season to warrant attention this time in. The four-year-old was a dual winner in Australia before coming to Hong Kong where he placed in his first three starts.

Both starts at Happy Valley have resulted in placings and with Zac Purton riding, expect another tidy performance.

Punters should get each-way odds on race night and they are worth taking.

Race 7. (23:15) Sha Wan C3 Handicap (1650m)

#2 – Reel Bizzy – Bet @ Sportsbet

Reel Bizzy looks set for another tidy performance after notching back-to-back third placings this season.

The Charlie Shum-trained son of Kodiac ran only 1.6 lengths behind the winner at Happy Valley last month and that should be a good form guide.

He is a three-time winner that gets the services of Zac Purton, who scored on the gelding in May of this year.

Race 8. (23:50) Po Chong Wan C3 Handicap (1200m)

#1 – Californiadeepshot – Bet @ Sportsbet

Californiadeepshot is a three-time winner from nine starts and his record should be respected in this contest.

The former Australian, which was unbeaten in two starts at Kembla Grange, owns a win at Happy Valley and that form is good for this race.

Alfred Chan takes a valuable 3kg off his back and he should go close.
