Happy Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (21:45) Glory Star C5 Handicap (1650m)
#5 – Lucky Shiny Day – Bet Now
This isn’t a very strong field and Lucky Shiny Day could take advantage of it.
He’s coming off a good effort for fourth last time out and that was a nice resumption for the new season.
He was only 1.3 lengths behind the winner and seeing Joao Moreira take the ride is a big positive.
Likely to be well backed so follow any positive moves.
Race 2. (22:15) Sir John C5 Handicap (1000m)
#6 – Exponents – Bet Now
Exponents couldn’t quite continue his consistent form last start but that came at Sha Tin and he’s capable of bouncing back.
The Tsui-trained runner finished second at his three starts prior and anything close to that form would see him fighting out the finish here.
He owns good form at Happy Valley and he’ll likely get every chance to sit handy to the pace from barrier three.
Race 3. (22:45) Flying Elite C4 Handicap (1650m)
#10 – Speedy Wally – Bet Now
Speedy Wally scored a good win three starts back and has run well since. He comes into this with consecutive second placings, including one on this track earlier this month.
That form should hold him in good stead for this and it’s a quality ride for Zac Purton, who will drive down the starting price.
Drawing barrier 11 isn’t ideal but should be able to find a good spot over this distance.
Race 4. (23:15) Green Luck C2 Handicap (1650m)
#2 – Not Usual Talent – Bet Now
Not Usual Talent has above-average talent after winning his last two races. Both of those came last season and he usually finds form in a fresh state.
The Yung-trained runner has competed against some tough fields and he faces another here. This is a hot field but Purton rides and there has been good early betting support.
Drawn ideally in barrier three and that should see him settle on the pace and kick strongly.
Race 5. (23:45) Windicator C4 Handicap (1200m)
#3 – All Wongchoy – Bet Now
All Wongchoy is coming off a win at Happy Valley and he could easily go back-to-back here.
The Shum-trained runner is having only his third race day start but he has shown good maturity to date and that holds him in good stead for this.
He has paid a good price with bookmakers in both starts to date and punters are still getting value each-way odds in this.
Race 6. (00:15) The Longines Cup C4 (1200m)
#9 – Bullish Brother – Bet Now
Bullish Brother hasn’t been able to win recently but he looks close to an improved performance.
The Tony Cruz-trained runner started his season with a seventh but improved quickly to run fourth at Happy Valley earlier this month.
Looks fitter now and although drawing barrier 12 over this distance makes it harder, the in-form Karis Teetan takes the ride.
Good chance and each-way odds on offer.
Race 7. (00:45) Dordenma C3 Handicap (1650m)
#6 – Reliable Team – Bet Now
Reliable Team looked the goods when winning consecutive races before kicking off this campaign with a fair fifth.
The Frankie Lor-trained runner finished 4.25 lengths behind the winner but we’re prepared to forgive that performance.
It was his first run for three months and he was always going to need time to find his feet. Better suited here and he’s worth following.
Race 8. (01:15) Speed Vision C3 Handicap (1200m)
#5 – Le Terroir – Bet Now
Le Terrior has three wins from his last four starts and every chance of winning again here.
The Ho-trained runner came back from a spell with a 2.75-length win at Happy Valley and he has the ability to rise through the classes.
Joao Moreira takes the ride from the inside draw and he should be able to match the ability of this field.
Race 9. (01:50) Ivictory C2 Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Yee Cheong Baby – Bet Now
Scored back-to-back wins last season before kicking off with a fifth last time out.
The Ting-trained runner was only four lengths behind the winner last month and he has been given a freshener for this.
That should hold him in good stead and the key booking is Zac Purton. He’ll give Vee Cheong Baby every chance in the run from the inside barrier.
