Hong Kong Classic Cup Form Guide & Tips
(1) My Wish (Best Bet – $6.00)
My Wish comes off a win in the Hong Kong Classic Mile and we believe that’s the best form guide for this race.
He got the better of Divano by a narrow margin and he’s good enough to produce the same result on Sunday.
(2) Packing Hermod ($7.50)
He has been all around the mark this season and we’re not surprised by the each-way odds, especially with Blake Shinn coming to ride.
The talent is there and we’re not leaving him out of our Hong Kong Classic Cup picks.
(3) Rubylot (Best Roughie – $11.00)
Punters get value double-figure odds for Rubylot, who won well at Sha Tin two back before running sixth behind My Wish.
He was only 2.2 lengths behind the winner, so he hasn’t far away, and we’re happy to give him another chance.
(4) Divano (Best Each Way – $6.00)
The four-year-old ran at $48 odds when second behind My Wish, and there is much more money coming for him now.
The son of Brave Smash looked good earlier this prep when winning consecutive races, and because of the betting confidence, we’re putting him in our top picks.
(5) Johannes Brahms ($13.00)
The former European is a two-time winner this campaign, and he defeated a tidy field last time out.
His form is good enough to handle this field, and because of the odds available, we’re including him in first four picks.
(6) Stunning Peach ($11.00)
We thought the odds for Stunning Peach are on the low side, and although James McDonald rides, we can’t take the $11.
He’s more like a $19 shot, so we’re choosing to find value elsewhere.
(7) Mickley ($13.00)
His form this preparation hasn’t been good enough to consider, and he’s another runner that’s too short in the market.
Ryan Moore rides, but that’s where the positives end.
(8) Noisy Boy ($13.00)
The four-year-old son of Real Steel comes off consecutive wins, but we question the level of opposition he has been winning against.
The former Australian ran second in the Tulloch Stakes at Rosehill but he would need to improve to beat this field.
(9) Cap Ferrat ($21.00)
The money was on last start when finishing 12th behind My Wish. That was a disappointing effort from the former Australia, so we can’t include him.
(10) Californiatotality ($26.00)
He comes off a win but it was at much lower levels. We can’t see that form being good enough for Group 1 level.
(11) Packing Angel ($7.50)
Money has come for the progressive Packing Angel, who made it three wins on the bounce at Sha Tin last time out.
This is a massive rise in class, but Joao Moreira rides, and he could be the new kid on the block.
(12) Mondial ($34.00)
The South African runner is fresh up and he adds some intrigue, but we can’t see South African form measuring up well in Hong Kong.
(13) Steps Ahead ($26.00)
He doesn’t know how to run a bad race, but without experience racing against the best age-group horses in Hong Kong, he could struggle to keep up.
(14) Sky Trust ($17.00)
Solid enough form in easier races, but the $17 is too short for our liking. He could mature into a nice five-year-old next season.
(15) Sky Heart ($51.00)
He won well at Sha Tin last time out but he has yet to face top-level opposition. We can’t see him winning this race.
(16) Romantic Thor ($41.00)
Not running well and the odds should be higher.
