Ipswich free tips & form
Race 1. (12:33) CFMEU Labour Day 6 May Maiden (1000m)
#2 – Elementae – Bet Now
Robert Heathcote lines up the four-year-old gelding which ended his last campaign with consecutive placings.
They came at Newcastle and Wyong, so the trip to Queensland should be easier and there’s not a lot to beat in this race.
Drawing wide is a negative but he should show good pace and he could put a couple of lengths on this field.
Race 2. (13:08) Carlton Mid Maiden (1666m)
#9 – Lotus Leaf – Bet Now
Lotus Leaf owes loyal punters a return here after promising to break through for a while now. The four-year-old mare has placed in three of her last four starts, including a third placing at Gold Coast last time out.
The rise back up in distance should help her chances and it’s good to see Jeff Lloyd return to the saddle.
We’re expecting money to come for her again.
Race 3. (13:43) Sirromet C3 Handicap (1350m)
#1 – Tivoli Street – Bet Now
Chris Waller trains the former Sydney-based runner which was disappointing last time out at Eagle Farm but drops in grade for this.
The three-time winner had run second prior to that at Gold Coast and although he’s much better than advertised, we do want to see some winning form soon.
Jeff Lloyd rides and he might be able to get the best out of the five-year-old.
Race 4. (14:18) Book Now Ipswich Cup C5 (1000m)
#1 – Raiden – Bet Now
Raiden owns plenty of pace and although beaten as the favourite at Coffs Harbour last start, he will be better suited at the weights here.
He carried 61.5kg last start and drops to 59kg for this. That, coupled with the inside draw, could make all the difference for this speedy type.
He was a winner at Doomben in February and that form takes him close.
Race 5. (14:53) Schweppes R65 Handicap (1666m)
#7 – Mother To Race Her – Bet Now
Looked good last season when winning once and placing on five occasions. The four-year-old mare didn’t find much when running fourth last start at Gold Coast but she’s better than that.
The daughter of Americain has experience running at Randwick and if she shows the same pace she showed earlier on in her career, she’s going to be awfully tough to beat here.
Punters should get good odds for the Matthew Dunn-trained runner.
Race 6. (15:28) Ray White Ipswich BM65 (1200m)
#4 – Coastal Prince – Bet Now
Three-year-old gelding which was good enough to produce consecutive wins last campaign. The son of Real Saga then ran ninth at Doomben but he’s better than that and likely just needed a break.
He has been primed with two recent trials at Gold Coast and the Edmonds/Lloyd combination is tough to hold out.
Tough field but he brings in each-way claims.
Race 7. (16:03) Family Fun @ Labour Day BM65 (1200m)
#9 – Boom County – Bet Now
Had the “boom” tag on debut and she did the job nicely. The Spirit of Boom filly scored by 2.3 lengths at Ipswich and having another run on this track is ideal.
Drawing barrier 11 won’t make it easy for the inexperienced filly, but she gets Lloyd in the saddle and if she shows anything close to the form from her debut run, she’ll win this again.
Punters are unlikely to get big odds.
Race 8. (16:38) Ipswich Cup Tix On Sale C2 (1200m)
#12 – King’s Lady – Bet Now
Scored nicely on debut at Toowoomba by 1.3 lengths and there was plenty of money placed on the filly.
She ran as the $1.50 favourite when beating the field of eight and although there’s more depth to this field, she looms as a winning chance.
Gets in with a light weight and she should be right around the mark.
