Ipswich is the venue for the Queensland midweek races this Wednesday and we have free tips on offer.
Bookmakers are offering plenty of value and there’s some nice types in action on what should be a rain-affected surface.
Ipswich free tips & form
Race 1. (12:25) Channel Seven Maiden (1200m)
#5 – Mossfair – Bet Now
The Robert Heathcote-trained debutant doesn’t have much trial form to go on, but the conditions are going to suit nicely.
She’s a two-year-old filly by Mossman and they are notoriously good at running in heavy track conditions. That bodes well for this run and punters could get nice odds on offer.
Watch for any late betting moves in an even contest.
Race 2. (13:00) Carlton Mid Maiden (1200m)
#5 – Perfect Quality – Bet Now
On debut for trainer Gillian Heinrich after showing some pleasing trial form in preparation for this.
The colt by Written Tycoon scored a 1.3-length trial win to start her career and backed that up with another 1.3-length trial win at Gold Coast.
That came on a good track but the well-bred colt should be able to handle conditions and beat a field without much form.
Race 3. (13:40) Sirromet Maiden (1350m)
#12 – Rock “N” Sol – Bet Now
Tony Gollan has this three-year-old ticking over nicely after recording four consecutive placings this preparation.
His most recent placing came at Toowoomba when finishing just under two lengths behind the winner and his maiden form at Doomben will also be a good guide.
It’s only a matter of time before he breaks maiden grades and it could come here.
Race 4. (14:15) Schweppes Maiden Plate (1350m)
#13 – Quotant – Bet Now
Could well start at a big price here after three moderate performances, but she’s due for improvement.
Kelly Schweida lines up the three-year-old filly, which improved to run fifth at Doomben last start when running at odds of $40 and she didn’t have much luck in transit either.
Punters would be taking a risk here, but the track is heavy and that could bring her right into contention.
Race 5. (14:50) Ray White Ipswich C5 (1350m)
#3 – Bryneich – Bet Now
Chris Anderson lines up the five-year-old gelding which has had a trial to prepare for his return to racing.
He was last seen in December when running second at Doomben in a higher grade than this and a similar run would make him tough to beat.
He has two wins from his last four starts, including a 2.8-length win on this track and that form is good enough to take this out at each-way odds.
Race 6. (15:25) CFMEU Labour Day C2 (1620m)
#2 – Own Sweet Way – Bet Now
Own Sweet Way was a good winner three back before running consecutive third placings at Gold Coast and Doomben.
The four-year-old gelding has paid big odds his last couple of runs and that’s due to the quality of opposition. This is no easier but he likes to roll along in front and that helps in the wet.
He runs best on rain-affected tracks and he could pay a nice price in this.
Race 7. (16:05) Follow Ipswichturfclub BM70 (1200m)
#8 – Cool Mover – Bet Now
Cool Mover isn’t the most consistent horse running around but she ran well two back when scoring at Gold Coast.
She didn’t quite handle the conditions last start but she’s the type that likes to produce a good effort when least expected.
Punters should be able to get value odds this Wednesday and she could pay double-figure odds.
Race 8. (16:40) Free Entry BM70 (1000m)
#5 – Smartypy – Bet Now
Chris Munce lines up the capable four-year-old mare which was a half-length winner on this track last time out.
That came on a good track but she placed at her only rain-affected start so the heavy conditions shouldn’t be a concern.
The daughter of Smart Missile has many more wins in store and punters could get value odds in what should be an even market.
