Ipswich horse racing tips & form

Race 1. (13:18) Thisisaconversationstarter Maiden (1350m)

#1 – Ashgrove – Bet @ Sportsbet

Ashgrove finished third on debut at Sunshine Coast as a favourite, and the betting support will likely come again.

The three-year-old colt was backed into $2.40 earlier this month, and although beaten, the son of Dundeel will only improve with the experience.

Barrier 10 is the only negative, but he has time to find cover.

Race 2. (13:53) Fertpro Maiden (1200m)

#2 – Mount Fuji – Bet @ Sportsbet

It shouldn’t take Mount Fuji long to score a maiden win after posting three placings from five career starts.

The four-year-old son of Snitzel ran second at Doomben behind Bi Turbo last start, which is excellent form for maiden grades.

There are some smart types in this field, but punters should get each-way value.

Race 3. (14:30) Sirromet C5 Handicap (1200m)

#3 – Kateru – Bet @ Sportsbet

Kateru scored back-to-back wins at Scone and Dubbo before doing enough late at Muswellbrook last time out.

The five-year-old gelding defeated a talented field at Dubbo, including the well-performed Partners. It was a tough open-class victory, so his form stacks up nicely at this level.

Getting a 2kg claimer helps and we’re confident of a bounce back effort.

Race 4. (15:10) Icare Support Services C3 Handicap (1350m)

#3 – The Ritz – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Ritz owns three wins and two placings from five starts, so the four-year-old has yet to do anything wrong.

He comes off a win at Gold Coast by five lengths, so that’s going to be a good form guide for the rest of his season. It came over Shooting Roses, who he faces again on Wednesday.

We’re not expecting bookmakers to be offering massive odds, but take whatever is available.

Race 5. (15:50) Ipswich Jets C1 Handicap (1666m)

#4 – Wheels – Bet @ Sportsbet

Wheels didn’t live up to her name last start as the favourite at Sunshine Coast, but her form prior was worth considering.

The five-year-old mare scored a win on debut before running second at Ipswich, so having experience on this track will do her plenty of good.

She is a daughter of Shocking, so the extra distance looks ideal.

Race 6. (16:30) Base Metal Fabrication BM65 (1100m)

#5 – Go Deep – Bet @ Sportsbet

Go Deep is only a three-time winner from 29 starts, but he meets an even field that’s there for the taking.

The five-year-old son of Deep Field finished only 1.4 lengths behind the winner at Ipswich last start, which was his best performance on this track.

It’s a good sign of what’s to come, so stick with him.

Race 7. (17:10) ITC Mental Health Month C2 (2150m)

#1 – Rapaport – Bet @ Sportsbet

Rapaport didn’t fire at Doomben last start, but dropping in grade should have a positive impact on Wednesday.

The David Vandyke-trained son of Shamexpress had looked excellent prior when winning his first two starts, so punters should use that as a form guide.

We expect him to bounce back in fine style.
