We have free tips and form for the best races and horses across both meetings on January 16.

Sandown free tips & form

Race 2. (16:30) Blue Star Print Maiden (1200m)

#7 – Ronan’s Rock @ $2.50 – BET NOW

The Lindsay Park-trained colt was well-backed on debut when running second behind the talented Brutal but he was disappointing last start on this track.

A well-bred three-year-old by Fastnet Rock, Ronan’s Rock finished ninth in a good maiden field and he has been given time to get over this first campaign.

Punters have come for his opening price of $2.80 and he could firm to an odds-on quote.

Race 3. (17:00) Le Pine Funerals BM64 (1200m)

#6 – More Sundays @ $2.20 – BET NOW

More Sundays was the boom horse after winning on debut at Geelong by 2.3 lengths and although beaten last start at Randwick, we’re prepared to give him another chance at this level.

The son of Fastnet Rock was the beaten $2 favourite at Randwick and a win there could have seen him contest at Group level.

We’re surprised to see bookmakers offering above $2 for this run but take the value on offer.

Race 4. (17:30) Clanbrooke Racing BM64 (1600m)

#6 – Cincinnati Red @ $3.10 – BET NOW

A tragedy beaten last time out at Caulfield, Cincinnati Red gets its chance to recoup punters’ losses at Sandown.

The four-year-old was caught wide throughout at Caulfield but that shouldn’t be an issue from barrier one and she faces an easier field this time around.

Punters are getting good value and her current price won’t last long.

Race 5. (18:00) Spicer Thoroughbreds BM70 (1600m)

#3 – Cash Affair @ $3.10 – BET NOW

Surprisingly not the favourite for this race, despite having quality form at Flemington leading into this.

The Darren Weir-trained mare scored a win at Bendigo to kick off this campaign and has since placed twice at Flemington, including a close-up finish behind Fallen Empire.

That’s good form for this and she’s going to be a better run than current favourite Mosh Music, which has drawn barrier eight.

Race 7. (19:00) NJTCricket.com.au BM70 (1400m)

#3 – Gold Mag @ $2.35 – BET NOW

Another boom horse of last preparation, Gold Mag will look to return to winning form here. The Lindsay Park-trained gelding won his first two starts with ease before running second down the Flemington straight.

He didn’t lose any admirers that day and although beaten, his form prior stacks up nicely for this grade. He won his two starts by a combined margin of 9.8 lengths and that sort of speed should see him winning at midweek level.

Looks like one of the better bets of the day.

Race 1. (13:55) Autumn Carnival On Sale Maiden (1400m)

#2 – Belladeel @ $2.80 – BET NOW

Chris Waller lines up the three-year-old colt which was backed and beaten on debut at Randwick but punters are treading more carefully this time around.

The $2.80 on offer is a fair price for the Dundeel colt which looked good at the trials and might have just needed the experience on debut.

Allow another chance and watch for any late betting moves.

Race 4. (15:25) ANZ Bloodstock News BM70 (1200m)

#8 – Prophet’s Thumb @ $2.35 – BET NOW

It might have only been a win at Gosford last start but she looked like a real up-and-comer in the process. The three-year-old filly scored convincingly by 1.8 lengths as the odds-on favourite.

That win should hold her in good stead for the rest of this campaign and her only defeat so far came at the hands of Ragged Rascal in open grade.

Better than evens is a good price here.

Race 5. (16:05) Bowermans Furniture BM70 (1000m)

#4 – Royal Witness @ $3.60 – BET NOW

We thought Royal Witness may have turned a corner when scoring at Hawkesbury to end his previous campaign and that proved correct when he scored last start at Randwick.

The son of Star Witness scored at generous odds of $13 and he’s significantly shorter in the market this time around and rightfully so.

Rachel King should get him into a good position to launch late.

Race 7. (17:20) Tab BM70 (1600m)

#9 – Botti @ $3.60 – BET NOW

The former Kiwi enters this having finished third at Randwick last start and the form out of that race is going to stack up.

The debut winner at Pukekohe came over to Australia with a solid reputation and stakes-grade experience. That looks to be starting to show up and the odds on offer are good value.
