Quality racing comes to us from Canterbury and Echuca this Wednesday.
Both meetings have presented even betting fields and although we’re getting into the wetter winter tracks, punters are still loving the racing on offer.
We have free tips and form for the best races this Wednesday.
Canterbury free tips & form
Race 1. (12:50) Tab Maiden Plate (1100m)
#1 – Age Of War @ $10 – BET NOW
Gary Portelli lines up the two-year-old which finished a half-length behind the winner on debut and is over the odds here.
The filly by Snitzel had solid trial form leading into her debut run at Wyong and there’s enough ability there to suggest that she can win second-up.
Her opening odds of $11 has firmed into $10 and punters are getting great each way value to kick off the Canterbury meeting.
Race 2. (13:25) Spring On Sale Maiden (1100m)
#8 – Ljungberg @ $3.30 – BET NOW
Finishing second behind Misteed is good form and that’s what Ljungberg brings into his third career race this week.
The two-year-old colt finished a neck behind the talented runner last time out at Canterbury and that followed up a solid run for fifth on debut behind Jonker.
The son of I Am Invincible looks to have more improvement to come and he should get a good run from barrier six with apprentice Andrew Adkins in the saddle.
His odds of $3.30 could shorten on race day.
Race 3. (14:00) All Too Hard BM74 (1250m)
#3 – Seasons @ $2 – BET NOW
Even money is good money for Seasons and we expected the talented filly to be much shorter in the betting.
The Les Bridge-trained runner scored a 1.3-length win at Warwick Farm and she indicated that she has many more wins in store.
Her first two career starts were desperately unlucky and she’s going to get every chance from barrier three with Tim Clark in the saddle.
We’re expecting the filly to start around the $1.65 mark and she should notch her second career win.
Race 4. (14:35) Theraces BM76 (1900m)
#2 – Bringagem @ $2.40 – BET NOW
Three wins in a row is what Bringagem is searching for and it would take a brave punter to back against him.
The Portelli-trained four-year-old has a professional record of three wins and four placings from eight starts, and he might be a touch underrated at the midweek level.
His last two wins have come by over two lengths and although he rises in grade for this run, he drops slightly in weight and there’s no superstars in this field.
$2.40 is a fair price from bookmakers.
Race 7. (16:20) Tab Rewards BM79 (1200m)
#4 – Inquiry @ $4.80 – BET NOW
Nice odds on offer for the James Cummings-trained runner which won well at Hawkesbury to open his account this campaign.
The three-year-old gelding then ran third behind Thrilled at Warwick Farm last start and although rising in grade for this run, he drops down 4kg in weight and that’s a big bonus.
This is an even field but the each way odds on offer are attractive.
Echuca free tips & form
Race 4. (13:35) Bourke Builders BM78 (1200m)
#1 – Bellaria @ $6 – BET NOW
Darren Weir lines up the four-year-old mare which returns having not raced since February. That run came behind Spanish Reef at Flemington and this is a good drop back in grade.
The four-time winner scored a narrow nose win at Sandown prior to that and she has a good fresh-up record of three starts for a win and a placing.
Has a big weight of 60kg to carry but she looms as a major player.
Race 5. (14:10) Leveson North Melbourne BM64 (1400m)
#1 – Ocean’s Fourteen @ $5 – BET NOW
Ciaron Maher lines up the Victorian Derby entrant which has more class than most of this field.
The three-year-old staying colt won by 2.8 lengths at Donald before running second behind Weather With You in the Geelong Guineas.
Finishing 10th behind Ace High in the Derby was nothing to be disappointed about and although this could be short of his best, he should have this field covered by a few lengths.
Gets the big weight for his troubles but put on top here.
Race 6. (14:45) Bet365 BM64 (1400m)
#5 – Raptarun @ $4.40 – BET NOW
Raptarun was a good winner on debut at Swan Hill and she looks good enough to make it two-from-two this Wednesday.
Trained by Darren Weir, the three-year-old scored by 2.3 lengths and that came on a rain-affected track, so the conditions won’t be an issue at Echuca and she should relish them again.
Drawing barrier four will allow her to find her feet and position well in the big field.
Race 8. (15:55) Murphy’s Landscaping BM70 (2100m)
#3 – Macrobius @ $31 – BET NOW
Ignore the recent form of Macrobius, as he always needs time to find his feet and the rise in distance is right up his alley.
The Jamie Edwards-trained runner scored consecutive wins last preparation when racing over 2200m and although beaten in a strong field at Flemington since, he’s much better suited to midweek company.
He won’t have much work to do from the inside barrier and he should be paying good odds.
