Karaka Million 2yo Form Guide & Tips
1. Beau Dazzler ($20)
A nice start to his career in Queensland, and he’s the only Australian in the field.
A good second behind Spywire, who has since run well in the Magic Millions, so don’t overlook its chances.
2. So Naive (Best Roughie – $15)
Nothing wrong with his two wins from three starts, including a win at Ellerslie when the new track opened last week.
That should be a good form guide for this race, and punters get double-figure odds to enjoy.
3. Poetic Champion ($13)
Yet to run a bad race but drawing barrier 15 could put pay to his chances.
We would prefer to see him race in something easier than this race.
4. Cool ‘N’ Fast (Best Bet – $6.50)
We can’t quite believe the odds. His debut win was incredible when picking them up at Pukekohe, where he defied a betting drift.
He’s Opie Bosson’s pick of the rides, so the each-way odds should be taken. He could be anything, and he’s yet to learn how to run properly.
5. Savaglee ($21)
Liked his win on debut and he’s in good hands with the Moroney/Gerard stable. Went forward and was run down by Cool ‘N’ Fast last start, so we’re prepared to leave him out.
6. Maracatu ($21)
Second behind So Naive last time out as a $1.60 chance. Could turn the tables with Blake Shinn riding, so we wouldn’t rule him out.
7. When Stars Align ($17)
Another Te Akau-raced runner. He won well on debut at Trentham when scoring by 1.3 lengths over Unbridled Joy, who broke maidens at Matamata on Wednesday.
That form could stack up, so he’s a potential first-four chance.
8. Full Force (Best Each Way – $10)
He owns two second placings from two starts, but we liked his effort to finish a nose behind Cool ‘N’ Fast, which we think is a good form guide.
The stable has a history of winning this race, so they could strike again.
9. Force of Law ($51)
He hasn’t shown his best form to date, having not won in three attempts. We don’t think that will change here.
10. Bellatrix Star ($3.60)
The second favourite to win following an impressive last start win. Can’t be left out, but the odds were too short to take as a solo bet.
11. Velacious ($3.30)
Two wins and a placing from three starts. The current favourite despite running third behind Bellatrix Star last start.
Having James McDonald riding helps, and he has an excellent riding record at Ellerslie.
12. Sunrise ($31)
Won a moderate maiden race last time out and we can’t see the filly winning this race.
13. Macaluso ($41)
An improving type, but we can’t see her running well to win.
14. Hard Attack ($31)
Four starts for two placings, and she would need to find a few lengths to win.
15. Damask Rose ($23)
A debut winner for Te Akau. Chance if she gets into the field, which is unlikely.
