2018 Kennedy Mile form guide and tips

Hartnell (Best Each Way – $6.50) – BET NOW

Grand old galloper who might be past his best, but he keeps running well at a high level and deserves to be considered here.

He’s a 13-time winner of more than $5.5 million and having finished second behind Land of Plenty in the Toorak Handicap, that’s good enough form and his odds are appealing.

Le Romain ($12) – BET NOW

Handy runner on his day and although his day has been rare of late, he has the ability to win at Group 1 level.

Kris Lees lines up the six-year-old which finished 3.7 lengths behind Redzel in The Everest and the rise in distance to the mile is going to suit him better.

James McDonald rides and he’s a chance at odds.

Comin’ Through ($34) – BET NOW

Scored a tough win fresh up but he’s going to struggle against this field given his recent form. Has seemingly lost that desire to win, which made him a force in Sydney.

$26 is a fair assessment.

Land of Plenty (Best Bet – $4.80) – BET NOW

Booming win in the Toorak Handicap last time out and that should be the best form guide for this race.

Darren Weir lines up the five-year-old which had always shown the potential to win at Group 1 level and now that he has broken through for the win, he could start putting together a top record.

He owns a serious turn-of-foot and that’s needed to win this.

Dreamforce ($24) – BET NOW

Has been running consistent races and running at Flemington will help his case but he would need to improve to win at this level.

52.5kg helps but there are better weighted runners in this field.

Mister Sea Wolf ($19) – BET NOW

Scored back-to-back wins in much easier company before running eighth behind Hartnell last start. Not likely to contend at this level and the $19 should drift.

Noire ($12) – BET NOW

Should enjoy running with only 52kg on her back and she’s a seven-time winner from only 16 starts, which had support in the Toorak Handicap last start.

She managed seventh on that occasion and that was a solid effort first time in that company. Not the worst and she could run into the money.

Life Less Ordinary ($36) – BET NOW

Has been backed in from $91 to $36 which takes a fair plunge to do so. Nice effort last start but it’s tough to see him mustering enough pace to win this.

Siege of Quebec ($17) – BET NOW

Handy four-year-old which has been running in some tough races of late, but he has been up for some time now and it’s not about to get any easier.

Would prefer to see him given a freshen up and his odds are drifting accordingly.

Cliff’s Edge ($8) – BET NOW

Loves to set the pace and that could prove to be the winning of the race. He returned to form at Moonee Valley, which is a leaders’ track, but he has the confidence levels up now.

Not picking because the $8 is too short but would play if his odds drift out to double figures.

Fastnet Tempest ($19) – BET NOW

Knocking on the door of a win after consecutive second placings but not at this level. Prefer to see him in something much easier.

Sircconi ($24) – BET NOW

Returned to form after a long run of outs last start at Caulfield. Plenty to like about the run and he has always been a Group 1 contender.

Not the worst at $23 and he should attract attention.

Perast ($28) – BET NOW

Form reads better for a lower-graded race in Sydney and we’re not sure he’s good enough to win at this level, despite carrying only 52kg.

Tom Melbourne ($36) – BET NOW

Love to hate him, hate to love him. Costly for win punters and he looks a step below his best at the moment.

Peaceful State ($10) – BET NOW

Continues to be well-backed throughout this campaign, despite showing some inconsistencies.

He doesn’t help himself in the way he races and requiring luck every start is a tough way for punters to make money betting this runner.

Wouldn’t touch the $10.

Best of Days (Best Roughie – $10) – BET NOW

Dead-heated to score last start but there was plenty of positives to derive from the run. The Cummings-trained runner has been working nicely this season and he’s a danger down in the weights.

Has class at best and the 52kg with the inside draw is a bonus.

Iconoclasm ($14) – BET NOW

In career best form but whether that form is Group 1 worthy, we’re not sure and we don’t want to take the $14 to find out.

Prolific winner, however, and the $14 will entice some.

Radipole ($151) – BET NOW

Recent form is poor and it shouldn’t be winning.

Kaonic ($61) – BET NOW

Chance if it gets a run but it should have gone better last start and that’s a concern going forward.
