Kilcoy horse racing tips & form

Race 1. (14:35) Kilcoy Exchange Hotel C4 (1060m)

#1 – Ignite the Light – Bet Now

Punters will need to take Ignite the Light based on faith, but he was too good at his best to ignore.

The six-year-old is a four-time winner which is dropping in grade after running at Doomben last start.

We could see a quick form turnaround and given his top-end ability, he’s good enough to be included in selections.

Race 2. (15:12) Kilcoy Global Foods C1 Handicap (1200m)

#1 – Set to Sizzle – Bet Now

Set to Sizzle could do exactly that and he looks the runner to beat in this field.

The four-year-old son of Sizzling scored a 1.8-length win at Ballina in January before losing no admirers when running third last start.

Not everything went right for him on that occasion and although drawing wide hurts here, he just needs some luck.

This isn’t a very deep field and he could take advantage.

Race 3. (15:47) Tab C1 Plate (800m)

#8 – Halep – Bet Now

Halep could serve up punters with some value after she was good enough to win at Werribee last start.

The four-year-old rises in grade for this but shouldn’t find this field too much of a problem. The class in Victoria is higher than at Kilcoy, so she should be well-backed to score.

She likes to sit on the speed and that’s always a positive around this track. She should be able to control the speed and kick clear.

Race 4. (16:22) Somerset Regional Council Maiden (1060m)

#8 – Enraged – Bet Now

Enraged could improve and score a win for value punters. The three-year-old has only one placing from seven starts, but has shown good trial form.

He will need to improve on recent racing but there are no superstars in this field and bookmakers should have him at juicy odds.

Watch the market for any late betting moves.

Race 5. (16:57) Great Northern Handicap (1060m)

#1 – Magic Trick – Bet Now

Magic Trick is better than what he showed last start and the easing of competition could result in a win.

The three-year-old is a three-time winner from 11 starts that is dropping back from open class racing.

He will need to carry a big weight of 58kg but he’s the class act of this field and he should be able to put a couple of lengths on them.

Race 6. (17:32) Butler McDermott Lawyers BM58 (1900m)

#1 – Finnferno – Bet Now

Finnferno hasn’t done much wrong throughout his career, which includes two wins and six minor placings.

The son of Show A Heart is coming off a third placing at Gold Coast, where he settled on the pace and battled away nicely.

He rises up in weight to 59.5kg but he faces an easier field and he should be able to go close to winning.

Race 7. (18:10) Searle Garden Products BM55 (1500m)

#5 – Third Martini – Bet Now

Michael Costa lines up the three-year-old filly that produced a good win at Dalby last start.

The daughter of Dawn Approach won by 3.5 lengths and she could easily go back-to-back against this level of opposition.

A little luck will be needed from barrier eight, but she will have time to find cover and produce a good sprint in the straight.
