Kilmore racing tips
—
Race 1. (13:30) Bet365 Odds Drift Protect Maiden (2012m)
#5 – Weekend Lover @ $1.65
Weekend Lover looks to cap off three consecutive placings with a win and we’re not shocked by the odds.
The four-year-old was beaten by 1.3 lengths at Pakenham after looking like the winner at one point, but the form out of that race should hold up.
This race looks his for the taking, so take the shorts.
Stake: 4 Units
Race 2. (14:00) C+M Build Group Highweight (2012m)
#4 – Pride of Proisir @ $11.00
Pride of Proisir is better for three runs back from a spell, and although his form doesn’t set the world alight, there isn’t much to this field.
The five-year-old son of Proisir won at Ballarat to end his last preparation, so anything close to that run would be good enough.
We’re happy to include him in our picks at the odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 3. (14:30) MC Security Maiden (1612m)
#3 – Judge Jenni @ $2.80
Judge Jenni has gone through her gears this preparation and her second placing at Kyneton last start is a good betting guide.
It never takes the Jenni runners long to exit maiden grades, so we expect money to come for the Lindsay Smith-trained mare.
Barrier two is ideal and she’s the one to beat.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 4. (15:00) Bet365 Never Ordinary Maiden (1212m)
#10 – Hotinherre @ $5.00
Hotinherre has attracted solid betting support since markets opened, and the debutante could make a winning start.
The four-year-old daughter of Dundeel has taken her time getting to the races, but that’s often a good sign from this stable.
Her odds could keep shortening, so take the $5 available.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 5. (15:30) Beraldo Coffee Maiden (1462m)
#9 – Point of Ecstasy @ $4.20
Point of Ecstasy ran second on debut at Great Western, which is a solid enough form guide for racing at Kilmore.
The three-year-old daughter of Blue Point settled back and hit the line well, so rising from 1200m to 1462m should be right up her alley.
Jordan Childs is riding well and that adds to our confidence.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 6. (16:00) MC Labour BM64 (1462m)
#8 – Sweet Jasmine @ $2.70
Sweet Jasmine hasn’t been at her best this campaign with fifths at Warrnambool and Mornington, but a winning run is never far away.
The four-year-old mare by So You Think was only 1.7 lengths behind Crown Crusher last start, which should be a good form guide.
Barrier two is ideal and we’re not surprised by the shortening odds.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 7. (16:30) Bet365 BM58 (1112m)
#1 – Immortal Shield @ $4.20
The wide barrier isn’t ideal for Immortal Shield, but he showed enough last preparation to suggest he can win this race.
He won at Ballarat by five lengths to break maidens before running fourth at Pakenham and Cranbourne, so racing at Kilmore isn’t too hard for him.
Given the each-way odds, we’re happy to include him in picks.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 8. (17:00) Carlton Draught BM58 (1612m)
#3 – Sound of Jura @ $7.50
Value is with Sound of Jura, who comes off a win at Kilmore by a half-length as a $5 chance.
The four-year-old son of Nicconi showed an excellent turn-of-foot to score, so there is nothing wrong with that form.
It’s another good ride for Childs, who could have a successful day.
Stake: 1.5 Units
