Magic Millions 2YO Classic Form Guide & Tips
(1) Zip Lock ($7.50)
The unbeaten colt isn’t being left out of our picks. He showed good pace to hold off Tornado Valley last start, and he’s a first four inclusion.
Barrier three is ideal for the Munce-trained son of Hellbent, who demands respect.
(2) Tornado Valley (Best Each Way – $9.00)
He didn’t have much go his way when running second behind Zip Lock, which is why we’ve put him higher up the ranks.
It was a good effort from the colt, who has plenty of upside, and the $9 odds are better than expected for the Magic Millions 2YO.
He’s a must-include for all bets.
(3) Itchintogo ($16.00)
A live chance to score an upset win after beating them by 4.5 lengths last time out. That was a professional win, and having good tactical pace helps.
He will need to be good to win from a wide barrier, but if he finds the front, he could battle on gamely to win or place.
(4) Warwoven (Best Bet – $1.75)
The short odds favourite and it’s not hard to see why. He won on debut at Randwick in fine style before making it back-to-back wins at Eagle Farm.
The Bjorn Baker-trained colt could be a very smart type in the making, and he’s one of the favourites to win the Golden Slipper later this year.
$1.75 is skinny for a 2YO race, but he’s the testing material.
(5) Unit Five ($13.00)
A 2.5-length winner on debut at Caulfield, so there’s nothing to suggest that he can’t win at double-figure odds.
Ciaron Maher has him ready to go after winning a trial at Gold Coast, and after opening at $16, money has come for him.
He could be worth including if the money keeps coming.
(6) Knightsbridge ($21.00)
A nice enough win last time out, and having James McDonald riding helps, but he might need to find a length to beat this field.
If you have room for one more runner, he could be worth including.
(7) Shiki (Best Roughie – $12.00)
The filly showed elite speed to win on debut and last time out, and it could pay to forget she went around second-up at Randwick.
She was ridden far too aggressively before finishing fourth but seeing her rebound with a two-length win at Gold Coast gives us confidence.
Look for her to roll forward and kick strongly.
(8) Lumbini ($27.00)
Beaten by Warwoven last time out when running second. Needs to find a few lengths on that effort, despite beating the rest of the field.
(9) By Choice ($27.00)
Backed and beaten when fifth last week, and we can’t see her turning that effort around in time to win the Magic Millions.
(10) Masvingo ($35.00)
All around the mark with three placings from three starts, but a lack of winning form doesn’t usually bode well for this race.
(11) Mystical ($34.00)
Another runner yet to win a race, and after finishing seventh last start, we can’t see her figuring in the finish.
(12) Magritte ($151.00)
Better last start when second, but he would need to find a few lengths on his best form.
(13) Tigroni ($41.00)
Not everything went her way last time out, and if there is a big upset on the cards, it could be her at $41 odds.
The strength of this field is why she’s not shorter with bookies, but it wouldn’t be the biggest upset.
(14) Leaves of Lorien ($101.00)
Unlikely to trouble them after only posting three placings from five starts, hence the big odds.
(15) Inhabit ($201.00)
A debut winner, but her form has tapered off since rising in class.
(16) Double Cool ($51.00)
Two solid placings to start her career, and she is a nice enough type, but she’s not up to this level just yet.
(17) Iransofar ($151.00)
Disappointing last time out, and we can’t see her coming close.
