There are five Group 1 races from Rosehill this Saturday but there’s also some other quality action throughout the day.
Mornington hosts their Cup Day which is packed full of good fields and we have free tips, form and odds for all the best racing at the two venues this Saturday.
Rosehill free tips & form
Race 1. (12:30) TAB Birthday Card Stakes (1200m)
#3 – Avantage @ $4.20 – Bet Now
Avantage is a Kiwi filly which has won six of her seven starts and the wet track is going to help her cause. She has won all three starts on a soft track and that bodes well for this.
The only concern is that New Zealand sprinting form doesn’t always hold up well across the Tasman but this Fastnet Rock filly is all class and she could resume a winner at each way odds.
She has beaten fields better than this so consider.
Race 2. (13:10) Darby Munro Stakes (1200m)
#14 – Classique Legend @ $1.75 – Bet Now
The three-year-old gelding has looked special in winning two midweek races so far. Trained by Les Bridge, the talented type scored by 2.5 lengths on debut before winning by six last start.
It was an incredible display of galloping last start on the rain-affected track and we’re not surprised to see him run at short odds here.
Looks a group horse in the making and his odds are only going to shorten.
Race 3. (13:45) Edward Manion Stakes (2400m)
#1 – Big Duke @ $6.50 – Bet Now
Not given the best ride from Brenton Avdulla last start, expect the seven-year-old gelding to be ridden more positively this time around.
A proven winner at the top class, Big Duke hasn’t won for awhile now but he gets ideal conditions this Saturday after dropping in weight to 58kg and getting conditions to suit.
He has won three of his seven starts in the wet and he’s a great value chance, especially if there’s pace up front.
Race 9. (17:45) Epona Stakes (1900m)
#10 – Futooh @ $16 – Bet Now
Yet to run well in the wet but the Lindsay Park-trained filly could cause an upset at double-figure odds.
The filly by Sebring ran well when finishing fourth behind Spanish Reef at Flemington last start and she should continue to improve off that.
Value runner at the odds.

Race 2. (12:50) No Fuss Event Hire BM78 (1000m)
#3 – Star Fall @ $3 – Bet Now
The son of Zoustar has won four of his seven starts and although beaten at Randwick last start, that came in a harder race than this.
He’s a talented type on his day and returning to the left-handed tracks in Melbourne should help him. He was a winner at Caulfield when last running in this direction and dropping from open class by BM78 is only going to help his chances.
Good odds on offer.
Race 4. (14:05) Cleanaway BM70 (1200m)
#3– Music Bay @ $2.60 – Bet Now
Phillip Stokes lines up the filly by Choisir which was disappointing when running second at Sandown as the $1.40 favourite last start but she might have needed the run.
She has run behind the likes of Mystic Journey, Amphitrite and Smart Melody throughout her career, so the stable thinks highly of her and she will appreciate getting weight off her back.
Talented at best and punters are getting better odds this time around.
Race 5. (14:45) Martin Collins Polytrack Sires (1500m)
#6 – Really Discreet @ $1.70 – Bet Now
Punters will have to take short odds around this filly but she wasn’t disgraced when running fourth behind La Tene at Flemington last start and her debut win was strong.
Another Stokes-trained runner, the daughter of Helmut looks to have the majority of this field covered on talent alone and she gets an apprentice claim to help.
Likely to hold her current price until start time.
Race 7. (16:10) Ladbrokes Mornington Cup (2400m)
#1 – Trap For Fools @ $2.90 – Bet Now
Group 1 winner only five starts back when taking out the Kennedy Mile at Flemington and although he hasn’t won since, he has placed behind Avilius and Harlem at his last two.
That form bodes well for this and he’s used to carrying big weights, so the 61kg shouldn’t worry him too much.
Likely to go forward and try dictate the pace.
Race 9. (17:25) Stellar Guineas (1600m)
#1 – Mr Quickie @ $2 – Bet Now
Doesn’t have much left to prove this campaign after winning five in a row, including an impressive win at Flemington last start.
The underrated gelding has won six from his eight starts and despite rising in weight for this run, we can’t discount his current form.
Punters are getting a much shorter price than the $13 offered last start but he’s the best horse in this race by some margin.
