Newcastle free tips & form
Race 1. (13:50) Starr Facilities Services Maiden (1400m)
#2 – Dunbrody Power @ $2.20 – Bet Now
John Thompson lines up the three-year-old filly which has placed in three of her four starts. Her most recent came last time out at Canterbury behind a subsequent Group 1 runner.
Her third placing behind Mizzy is going to stack up nicely against maiden grades and she will get every chance from barrier two.
Prior to that ran fourth in the Magic Millions Maiden and she looks the one here.
Race 2. (14:25) Moet & Chandon Maiden (1200m)
#7 – Vendella @ $5 – Bet Now
Former Kiwi runner which is having her first start for Kris Lees. The daughter of Exceed and Excel ran fifth at Te Aroha last start and she owns placings at Hastings and Ellerslie.
Her best form came a couple of years back but she has been well respected in the market and that should tell punters something.
Keep an eye on any further betting moves.
Race 3. (15:05) Reward Hospitality C1 (2300m)
#5 – Shaman @ $2.30 – Bet Now
Hard not to be impressed with his 7.8-length win at Gosford last start and although facing a deeper field here, he should be right around the mark again.
Anthony Cummings lines up the improving stayer which will only get better over more distance. 2100m last start was more than enough to stretch his legs and the 2300m looks even better.
Bred to stay and is showing why.
Race 4. (15:40) Guardian Safety Solutions Maiden (1600m)
#1 – Elgin @ $2 – Bet Now
Has been a little unlucky not to clear maiden grades after three starts. The Lees-trained runner has placed in two of his three starts and he has experience on this track.
That came last start when running second by a half-length. It was a nice effort and he should only get better from here.
$2 is short but he gets the inside to his advantage.
Race 5. (16:20) Kam-Cool Refrig BM78 (900m)
#2 – Don’t Tease Me @ $7.50 – Bet Now
Warming into this race nicely after running second last start and although that came at Walcha, that form could strike in this race.
It’s not an overly good field and running over the 900m can produce varying results. He’s a two-time winner over this distance and if he makes a clean getaway, expect the seven-year-old to be right around the mark.
$7.50 is worth taking.
Race 6. (16:55) Prime Seven Beaumont Handicap (1400m)
#6 – First Crown @ $26 – Bet Now
Not wanted in the betting but his trial form wasn’t overly bad and he could blow them out at big odds.
Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, the two-year-old has had three trials and he wasn’t far behind them when placing at Rosehill last time out.
Nicely bred type which could run a big race.
Race 7. (17:35) Suez Newcastle Newmarket Handicap (1400m)
#4 – Savatiano @ $4 – Bet Now
Coming off a big run to finish third behind White Moss last start and she was always going to benefit from having another run.
The Cummings-trained mare has never run worse than second in four second-up starts and given her ability to string wins together, she should be able to cross the line first soon this season.
Blake Shinn is a good judge of pace and he should put Savatiano into a prime spot from barrier eight.
Race 8. (18:15) Pro-Ride Services BM64 (1200m)
#8 – Alternative Facts @ $5.50 – Bet Now
The four-year-old mare finished fifth behind Noble Boy in a tough Highway Handicap race at Warwick Farm last start and she has since scored a good trial win at Coffs Harbour.
That should hold her in good stead for this and given that she gets into this race well with a good weight and barrier, we’re expecting a tidy effort.
