Saturday-quality fields is the flavour of the day at Canterbury and Ballarat this Wednesday.
The high-class fields wouldn’t look out of place at a premier meeting and we have free tips, form and odds for the best races of the day.
Canterbury free tips & form
Race 1. (12:50) Tab Maiden Handicap (1100m)
#1 – Munich @ $2 – BET NOW
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt drops back in class after facing some tough fields in Sydney and this is going to suit nicely.
A son of Snitzel, Munich finished second at Warwick Farm two back behind a nice type and he has since won a trial impressively at Randwick.
That’s a good sign moving forward and although he has drifted from $1.95 to $2, he should be well supported on the day.
Race 2. (13:25) All Too Hard Maiden Handicap (1100m)
#7– Pedicel @ $4.80 – BET NOW
Lindsay Park lines up this two-year-old filly which looked good at the trials in preparation for her debut.
The daughter of Redoute’s Choice finished second behind race-winner Californiasurprise before winning a trial at Rosehill.
That half-length win showed enough class to be considered here and although she has drawn awkwardly in barrier 10, James McDonald takes the ride.
$4.80 is a good price given the risk.
Race 3. (14:00) Tab BM75 (1250m)
#10 – Noble Creed @ $2.80 – BET NOW
Strong money has come for Noble Creed throughout the week and we’re not surprised.
The talented three-year-old for Kris Lees is unbeaten after two starts and she defied a strong betting drift when scoring by 1.5 lengths at Newcastle.
This will be her toughest test to date but there’s plenty of confidence in the market and that’s always a good sign.
Keeps tabs on where the race day action goes.
Race 5. (15:10) Theraces BM73 (1550m)
#1 – Jaunty @ $5 – BET NOW
It’s not going to be easy carrying a big weight, but Jaunty is the class act of this field.
The Chris Waller-trained mare finished fourth at Warwick Farm last start and only 1.8 lengths behind the winner.
She ran a solid effort to run second at Randwick the start prior and with two runs under her belt, she should be in much fitter order for this.
Drawing well in barrier two and she is a two-time winner at this track and distance.
Race 6. (17:45) Vale Don Storey BM75 (1550m)
#7 – King Hewitt @ $4.60 – BET NOW
Solid money has come for King Hewitt this week after opening at $5.
The Kim Waugh-trained gelding was a last start winner at Wyong by 1.3 lengths and that capped off some solid form to kick off his career.
The Waugh stable is firing of late and the drop in weight from 59kg to 56.5kg is ideal.
Should provide punters with a good sight in the straight.
Ballarat free tips & form
Race 1. (12:25) City Of Ballarat Maiden (1200m)
#2 – Iam Ekstraordinary @ $3 – BET NOW
We haven’t been impressed with his first two starts which have resulted in a sixth and a ninth, but the money is on again and we’re taking notice.
The Richard Laming stable are big punters and they have backed this five-year-old with purpose in all three career starts now.
He opened at $4.60 and has firmed into $3 after multiple big bets. That’s worth taking note of and although we have no form to go on, he could take the opener at Ballarat.
Race 2. (13:00) Bartlett Blinds Hanidcap (1200m)
#6 – Embrace Me @ $5 – BET NOW
Embrace Me has drawn awkwardly here in barrier nine but that was a good run on debut without much luck.
It came at Flemington against a much harder field than what she faces here and punters should see some improvement.
Danny O’Brien lines up the daughter of Shamexpress, which scored a trial win at Cranbourne prior to her debut and she represents good value at the price.
Race 5. (14:45) Porter Plant BM84 (1000m)
#5 – Invincible Al @ $5.50 – BET NOW
Scored a win fresh up last campaign and although he doesn’t have form on rain-affected tracks, that could change here.
The Patrick Payne-trained four-year-old raced against some tough opposition last time in work, which included a fifth behind Demonstrate at Moonee Valley.
This is much easier and he could provide punters with a good sight at each way odds.
Race 8. (16:30) Hygain Winner’s Choice BM64 (1400m)
#5 – Captain Harry @ $5 – BET NOW
Captain Harry is in fine form after posting consecutive wins.
The three-year-old colt was a 1.3-length winner at Swan Hill two starts back before winning again last start at Ballarat.
Having winning experience on this track could be key for this race and one of his last two wins came on a heavy track.
Conditions are going to be similar here and $5 is a good price from bookmakers.
