Might and Power Stakes Runner-By-Runner Guide
1. Birdman (Best Each Way) @ $3.20
Sheza Alibi might be the skinny favourite, but bookmakers have not left Birdman out of their sights at $3.20.
He comes off a big win at Caulfield when beating Cosmic Crusader, who has subsequently won a Group 1, so the form checks out.
He won’t find it easy to beat the favourite, but we’re giving him a good chance of pulling off a minor upset.
2. Land Legend @ $81.00
His two runs this preparation haven’t been great, and he’s looking to get fitness under his belt before contesting the cups races.
There has been no interest in betting markets, and rightfully so, and we can’t see him finishing in the first four home.
3. Torranzino @ $126.00
Paying massive odds to win, and he’s another runner looking to get reps before the bigger races later this spring.
We can’t see him getting close to them at any point in the run, and the triple-figure odds are telling.
4. Kingswood @ $14.00
He should have no problem securing a first four spot, and his fresh up win at Caulfield shows how forward he is this spring.
He followed it up with a fourth behind Birdman and Cosmic Crusader, which was a good effort, and he should enjoy running against a small field.
We can’t see him beating the two favourites, but he’s good enough to run third or fourth.
5. Treasurethe Moment (Best Roughie) @ $12.00
Her run for second behind Pride of Jenni was excellent last start, and it’s being overlooked with betting markets.
She chased Jenni along the inside with no drag into the race, and she finished ahead of some nice types. We’re not saying she can win this race, but she deserves respect, and she’s a genuine Group 1 performer.
A top three finish is well within her reach.
6. Sheza Alibi (Best Bet) @ $1.35
The runner they’ve all come to watch, and if she’s at her best, she could blow them away.
There is a touch of Winx about Sheza Alibi, and Peter Moody knows what it takes to train a champion, and he could have another one on his hands.
She toyed with them last time out, and although small fields can be tactical affairs, she’ll likely settle ahead of Birdman and give him a task of catching up.
The $1.35 is short, but she will run through most multi bets on Saturday.
