The three-year-old filly by Zoustar is a winner in the waiting, and there are no superstars in this field on Friday.

She should be too strong for this field, so back her confidently.

Ciaron Maher is having another monster season and Barari could kick things off with a win for the champion trainer.

The $22,000 purchase looked solid at the jumpouts where she wasn’t for much, and although she’s not royally bred, she’s good enough to beat this field.

Early money has come her way, which is a good sign.

Race 4. (14:30) Mildura Gateway Tavern BM64 (1200m)

Cripps showed good ability during his first preparation, including a win at Geelong before placing at Echuca.

Something close to those efforts should be enough to beat this field, and it’s good to see the money come for him.

The $2.15 odds could firm, so take that offering.

#5 - Smoke ‘N’ Oakum @ $5.50

Smoke ‘N’ Oakum turned his form around when winning at Echuca last time out, and we’re backing him to kick on with it.

The four-year-old son of Foxwedge owns two wins and five placings from 11 starts, so his overall record is better than most in this race.

Dropping in weight is ideal, so include him in picks at the each-way odds.

Race 6. (15:30) Trentham Estate Golden Goblet BM70 (1000m)

This race is slightly easier than that race, and punters should expect him to improve with that run under his belt.
